"Maryana Mamonova, a medic, a captive who returned home this week, gave birth to a daughter," Rivne City Mayor Oleksandr Tretyak posted on Telegram.

She had four rotations to the ATO/JFO. Mamonova served as the head of the medical service of the 501st Marines Battalion. Since the beginning of Russias full-scale invasion, she served in Mariupol. Before the capture, Maryana told her family that she was pregnant. From April 4, 2022, she was held captive by the Russian invaders. On September 21, she was released within the exchange along with other Ukrainian defenders.

She was one of the 215 released in the recent prisoner swap. It looks like they got her out just in time.

You and your country represent the best of Democracy, in action, today. If it costs the USG 1/2 the annual Defense budget....money well spent. Fuck Putin.

So glad she made it through and gave birth to a healthy baby.

So at least she hopefully got decent physical care. The baby is a healthy weight anyway.
Must have been very stressful though. I was very worried that they would kidnap the baby if she gave birth in captivity.
