We have an old family friend in memory care at Shell Point Village and are super worried about him. I know they have evacuation shelters there and hopefully those will keep people safe enough.

Back in the ‘80s and ‘90s, when my grandparents lived at Shell Point, we had a condo overlooking the Sanibel bridge. It must be close to where you are.

I’m sure there’s a good plan for where you are right now. Sending you good wishes.

155 mph, almost a 5! Still strengthening. Those near coast or in mobile homes need to have left. Those of us in solid buildings and away from water just need to have a safe place during the worst. Around 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm today. Good luck folks!

I’ve been watching a local station out of Fort Myers. Those folks have my utmost respect, covering this from ground zero.

EDIT — Local news just had a shot of one idiot walking along Ft. Myers beach.

Anchor was pretty much speechless.

and is staying with her daughter, 40 miles inland. She's really scared about losing her home, which is in a mandatory evacuation zone.

She fears that "this monster is going to level her town".
