He's all heart, and he's always spoken for that blue collar guy trying to navigate an unforgiving world.

I did a report on him for my Grade 8 speech class in 1975, right after Born to Run came out, and I argued that Springsteen would be huge within the next few years. I played some of the title song, to explain why I thought he was super-talented. Maybe I didn't have much music theory sophistication at the time (how could I, when there was zero music instruction in Southern boonies schools?), but I knew good when my ears heard it.

My boonies classmates laughed at me when I said he'd be as big as Led Zeppelin. I got to laugh at them a few years later, right on schedule.

Been a fan ever since, but I think Nebraska is now my favorite album from him. I tend to like Springsteen the most when he's quieter and more reflective.
