Lauren Boebert Believes God Is Using Her To Convert UnbelieversLike her fellow Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (who was famously banned from Twitter over her controversial views), Rep. Lauren Boebert is an unapologetic "Christian nationalist" who believes America should be guided by a specific set of religious beliefs. At one event, Boebert came right out and said, "I'm tired of this separation of church and state junk that's not in the Constitution" (via The Washington Post).
Boebert has been appearing frequently at conservative conventions this year to gain traction in her second run for office. At one such event, Boebert announced that she had been called to run for office by a higher power. In a clip tweeted here, she boasted of having won her first primary against all odds. "God told me it would be a sign and a wonder to the unbeliever" to defeat a five-term incumbent, Boebert said suggesting that her unlikely win might turn non-Christians to her religion.
Twitter wasn't convinced. Among the many comments on the clip was this one from a former Republican: "It backfired with me. Boebert's 'Christianity' has made me renounce any religious affiliation." Another commenter said, "Well, God told me he's never had any conversations with her and that she made this all up." A third lamented: "God, Family, and Country. Years ago these were all things to be admired and loved. Now they come with a label: Warning. This is a GOP tell."

Now as I said, with M.T.G., it's be 1:45 a.m. before the bar closes and she's the last one in the bar and the "Little Soldier" is getting nervous with nothin' to do.
But even I have standards --- Gin-gin Thomas? No way. Imagine poor Clarance waking up, turning over and finding that hot mess looking at ya

(34,914 posts)Funny how she just now found Jeezus--only after the Christofascists on the Supreme Court started flaunting their power. I guess she no longer feels the need to engage in the gun-humping that got her elected the first time?

(18,511 posts)That was her signal to run for congress.
Jeebuzz's prick is the false idol that Boebert worships & prays to. Boebert thinks Christian biblical law should be the law of the land here in the USA.
Boebert's husband waved his dick around in public in full agreement of what she said.
Next week there will be a Jeebuzz pissing contest at the rodeo. Be sure to visit the Boebert Pork Sandwich food poisoning booth. That is how she raises funding for her re-election campaign to return to the US Congress.

Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.

(3,835 posts). . . complete heathens like Boebert and MTG rush to profess their deep and abiding Christianity?
Because they know the "christian" goobers will believe them.
I'm an old guy born and reared in rural Mississippi, educated in the Southern Baptist theology and white supremacy. I know it's very difficult for folks with a bit of education and exposure to the world outside your own little circle to believe this, but, this country is filled with "christian" goobers who are high school grads, maybe community college, maybe a year or so of college, never traveled more than a few hundred miles away from home, surrounded by people just like them, suspicious of "outsiders (someone from the next county over), life revolves around Baptist church, believe Democrats are socialists/communist/child molesters (although they cannot define socialist, or communist, or child molester). They are EVERYWHERE and the hell of it is, especially in rural areas, they are the school board, the county board of supervisors, and the big majority of the voters.

(18,572 posts)Yeah, idealistic pipe-dream, but consider how inappropriate and irrelevant this really is to holding office in a secular republic. There is no point in speaking of it unless it is a signal that one intends to impose their religious beliefs through the exercise of their office, which should be immediately disqualifying.

but people who found the Lord after getting in trouble are dangerous. Examine Laurens background: teen pregnancy, dropped out of school, several run-ins with the law
and then she found Jesus. Now were all in trouble.
Whats interesting is that while Boebert is going full Jesus in an attempt to win the election, she refuses to do things like constituent service and writing bills that might become law that probably would help her win the election. Apparently being a high school Mean Girl is more fun.

(2,809 posts)Can produce animals that resemble human beings but that semblance ends sharply once they open their yaps. Having looked up the area of Colorado on electoral maps I refugee'd away from at 16, not surprising its dark red.
One long-time coal-minin' fambilly I knew of, I always kept a relatively safe distance from were some of the ring-leaders of anti-education stance. Truly they revered incredulous ignorance my more urban sensibility couldn't grasp. Middle school drop outs all, functionally illiterate, bad hygiene, missing teeth and insanely religulous.
One of them should have been a retroactive Darwin Awards recipient. Taking the impression from the Dukes of Hazzard television program, had worked up a muscle car Dodge, and attempted to jump a canyon with it. Failure not only from the impossible physics of the idea, but the jump-ramp they'd constructed to do this stupid stunt completely collapsed when the car hit it. Took out two of them in a crushed mass of metal.
There were far more highly emotionally unstable, violent and impossibly stupid vigilante sorts in that region than there were reasonably average intelligence and demeanor sort. The ilk that would shout and cheer the likes of Boebert, have the obligatory sexist commentary in public, and likely have to recruit some more literate person to help them mark their ballot.
There were so many unbelievably stupid events from a few years of my life attempting to study in school among an overwhelming, always disruptive, violent sort I still have PTSD nightmares from it.
If it were up to Boebert and ilk, we'd all be few survivors in a post apocalyptic landscape.
