(7,630 posts)Hearing from this weasel makes me cringe but maybe thats what moves the fake conservatives to action. Its hard for the left to create this message artificially, nor could they create one even if they tried. Theyre learning, but Republicans have turned Hollywood-type media into an asset for them more than Democrats.
But now its time for enlightened Democratic ideals to permeate the airways in media from liberals that conservatives can never create. You must be liberal to create and conservatives cant create, they can only mimic.
And mimic is even less powerful than duplicate because it contains a sarcastic visceral message of hate which eventually goes out of style.
Bye bye Trump-like media personalities. Enjoy being hoisted on your own petard.

(8,200 posts)They totally ignored Trumps bilking his creditors, lies on lies. his sexual abuse of women. etc. etc. Let us admit it the state of the nation and its future is in jeopardy. The hypocrisy is staggering. Hope for change in the near future is dismal at best. At my age I can only hope for the best despite the facts that my grandchildren's' future is than optimistic. A house that is as divided as ours cannot stand. Our enemies know this and like vultures they are gleefully watching us tear our self apart.

(24,200 posts)This kid has had enough. I think his father tried to use him as a prop and one more lie just was a bridge too far. Perhaps the abortion story was really painful for his mother and he just couldn't go along anymore.

(41,613 posts)I'm guessing that was news to the boy and his mom, that Herschel got a GF pregnant and then paid for her abortion. Yes he's a spoiled little shit, but is any of this really his fault?
The entire family and close friends all voted AGAINST Walker running for Senator, but he did it anyway.
Johnny2X2X
(24,200 posts)Probably one of the women they know about, but he lied and said nothing happened and they were just friends. Then she comes out with him paying for her abortion, it just blew that lie up.
Abusive psychopaths like Walker weave a web of lies, if they get caught cheating with one woman, they can lie their way out of the next and the next somehow still. I've seen relationships like this, where the guy is a cheating dog and gets caught, but he still gets his significant other to believe him that nothing happened with all those other girls. Even if they get caught over and over, somehow they get taken back and convince them that all the other girls are lying or are just friends.
And I'm sure Walker being a rich and famous ex pro athlete, Walker controlled his family through money. And being famous gave him endless excuses to be talking to people. He's a famous UGA football player, everyone and their sister probably wants him at their events in Georgia.

(362 posts)To be honest, if the Daily Beast story had appeared alone, I doubt it would have mattered much. Evangelicals dont normally condemn conservatives for hypocrisy or moral infractions. Theyll just assume the story is a media lie, or at best say the truth cant be determined but what matters is that Walker is saved now - especially since the woman involved is avoiding the limelight.
Walkers son speaking out is a bigger deal, because he puts a human face on the allegations; and even more because hes an outspoken Republican himself (his social media feed is full of attacks on the left and praise for Republicans like DeSantis), so conservatives arent going to dismiss him so lightly.
Justice matters.

....wait am I talking a our Hersel or ffg#45..ha-- seems the more vile, evil, odious they are [republklans] the better-- IS a requisite for GOP membership. .Loved that he defended his mom, what a handsome guy..too bad he has a p@#$# p@#$@ pendejo [fucking blank moron] for a fucking father.
This young man should get into politics. His mother should be thankful that that man was not near her son. My nephew once told me,that the best thing that happen in his life was that his dad left and didn't have a negative influence in his life..yes he was angry, hurt growing up bc of that his father wasn't there for him-- could see that anger, hurt in this young man's voice [Walker's son--need to insert his name ] Today, my nephew is he's a successful person, earning six figures plus, has a beautiful home is an responsible caring father. So proud of him!
Yes, it's best to have both parents raising a child, not only emotionally but economically. It's been my observation in my professional career having to do with families, children, social issues that most children grow up to be healthy, responsible adults when raised in a two parent household [note: and if you're lucky your children won't grow up to be kkk/Nazi facists aka republiklans that is imo bc you've gone a step further --taught them not to hate, see others as their equal that they respect and care for others, the planet, that they give back, help others in need. ] Yet having say an alcoholic, an abuser, a drug user serve para nada ( a good for nothing ) father [ and in some instances mother] at home --it's best to raise children alone than expose your children to a negative, harmful, hurtful environment.
My heart goes out to this young man..I pray he finds paz.

(3,454 posts)I wasnt talking about the Presidential election either. In the Georgia Senate runoffs after the 2020 election, there was a big drop off in MAGA voters. Many of them dont care about anyone except Trump, so they didnt bother to vote the second time.
It doesnt matter who Trump anoints as a candidate. Theres a certain segment of his voters who are not into politics and arent regular voters. That being said, of course we cant ignore ANY candidate.
SergeStorms
(20,579 posts)discouraged participation in the special Senatorial election. It wasn't MAGAts unilaterally deciding to stay away. If Trump had annointed either of the republican candidates they would have danced to Trump's tune and turned out in droves. He didn't. He still controls the moron MAGAts.
Whatever, I'm glad we're both on the same side, moose65.

You are so right. Georgia only needs the 30 percent they have. They WILL rig the election and appoint Walker. Votes be damned. Just wait until the SC destroys voting rights this week. And Legislatures power to overturn elections next. (North Carolina Case)

I have a feeling that having a "flawed man who recognizes his need for God" is better than having a democrat in office is going to be the prevailing opinion of many. Hopefully there will be enough who aren't that "forgiving" who will just not vote to sink his candidacy.

(169,665 posts)The first-term congressman fell short despite a late appeal from Trump, who encouraged voters to look past the young lawmakers string of missteps.

By Jonathan Allen
WASHINGTON Buckling under the weight of scandal, Rep. Madison Cawthorn, R-N.C. a favorite of former President Donald Trump lost his re-nomination bid in western North Carolinas 11th District on Tuesday, NBC News projected. State Sen. Chuck Edwards, a conservative backed by many of the states establishment players, won with about a third of the vote in an eight-way race. That left Edwards set to advance to Novembers general election and Cawthorn, 26, to see his House career come to an end after one term in January.
Cawthorn spokesman Luke Ball told reporters Tuesday night that Cawthorn had called Edwards to concede. Cawthorn, 26, lost despite an eleventh-hour appeal from Trump, who encouraged voters to look past his run-ins with the law, claims that fellow lawmakers use cocaine and engage in orgies, and images of him wearing lingerie and gyrating naked atop another man in bed.
Recently, he made some foolish mistakes, which I dont believe hell make again, Trump, who had previously endorsed Cawthorn, said Monday on Truth Social. [L]ets give Madison a second chance! Many Republican voters in the district felt that Cawthorn was an embarrassment and, perhaps more important, that he sought national attention at the expense of doing his job at home a sentiment repeated in interviews NBC News conducted in the district this month.
Hes a hot mess, Republican voter Susan Newman, 53, said at the time. I really dont see him doing anything in the district and he just keeps getting in trouble.
