Opens the door for class action lawsuits. Multiple law firms are searching for clients.

A lot of these ads are probably from “lead generating/marketing” firms.

In the 60's. I've been tempted to join this lawsuit, but for some reason I seem to be adverse in doing so.

Not sure why, I think I clicked on one of the notifications sometime ago, and *if* I recall correctly they required evidence of harm which I don't have. At least not that I'm aware of. I kind of feel like at my age, I should know if I've been adversely affected.

Jacksonville and Swansboro. Actually closer to Jacksonville in a rural district not too far from Base.

After H.S. I lived in Surf City on Topsail Island with a house full of anti-war Vietnam Vets and Peace Corps Vets.

Quite a change at the time. Dad was shocked and disheartened.. and so it went.

I lived across the street in AB from a houseful of people just like you describe. I was younger and these older (still young) people taught me a lot about life to long standing effect. What a time it was. What a place it was.

I have nothing in my personal history which is related to the Marine Corps, much less LeJeune. My husband is a Marine Brat, but it seems he could not qualify

9. Was your husband's father assigned to Camp Lejune?

If so, that would be the connection, but just the Maines could be enough of a connection. I get the ads because I'm in NC, but I also had a cousin who was a Marine officer's wife and they were at Camp Lejune for several years in the very early 70's. He died of brain cancer, and she passed from a different type of cancer, I'm not sure which. Editing to add, the connection meaning the algorithm triggering the ad, but they are also running it everywhere on teevee too.

11. People affected by Camp Lejeune toxic water don't need a lawyer to file compensation claim.
Tue Oct 4, 2022, 02:06 PM

Not personally affected by this. but found some useful information.

...Any individual who believes they are eligible can file a claim with the Office of the Judge Advocate General of the Navy’s Tort Claims Unit (TCU) in Norfolk, Virginia. People have up to two years to file a claim after the law’s enaction on Aug. 10, 2022. Anyone who wants to file a claim may either:

Fill out the CLJA claims form and email the completed form to the Office of the Judge Advocate General of the Navy’s Tort Claims Unit (TCU) at CLclaims@us.navy.mil. Be sure to save the form as “LAST NAME FIRST NAME MM.DD.YYYY” (date is submission date).

Submit a completed CLJA claims form via U.S. Mail or another carrier to the following address:

Department of the Navy

Office of the Judge Advocate General

Tort Claims Unit Norfolk

Attention – Camp Lejeune Claims

9620 Maryland Avenue, Suite 205

Norfolk, VA 23511-2949

For additional information on completing the CLJA claims form, you can access the Directions and Procedures document on the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps website. If you have questions about the claims process or need assistance with filing your claim, you can contact the TCU at (757) 341-4583. The U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps says the TCU is not able to provide updates on the status of individual claims at this time.

These law firms are buying email addresses for a dime a million. It really is obnoxious. And no matter how many times I mark them as spam, they keep coming into my regular email.

snip-"For roughly 30 years, beginning in the 1950s, service members at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, N.C., risked exposure to contaminated drinking water. This summer, President Biden signed a bill making it easier for people to sue the government for illnesses that came from it. But key details, like how the government will handle what could be one of the largest mass civil cases in history, remain muddy. But as Jay Price of member station WUNC reports, personal injury attorneys aren't waiting for clear directives."

That is the correct pronunciation since it is named after Lt. General LeJeune, 13th commandant or the Marine Corp. I still hear some of the older veterans saying LeJern.
