I think its a real thing, but it got hijacked.
Anyone else?

(37,370 posts)online ads. There are some lawyers that are going to make a fortune in a class action suit (the victims will no doubt get screwed)

(8,178 posts)In the 60's. I've been tempted to join this lawsuit, but for some reason I seem to be adverse in doing so.
Not sure why, I think I clicked on one of the notifications sometime ago, and *if* I recall correctly they required evidence of harm which I don't have. At least not that I'm aware of. I kind of feel like at my age, I should know if I've been adversely affected.

(8,178 posts)Jacksonville and Swansboro. Actually closer to Jacksonville in a rural district not too far from Base.
After H.S. I lived in Surf City on Topsail Island with a house full of anti-war Vietnam Vets and Peace Corps Vets.
Quite a change at the time. Dad was shocked and disheartened.. and so it went.

(4,689 posts)I lived across the street in AB from a houseful of people just like you describe. I was younger and these older (still young) people taught me a lot about life to long standing effect. What a time it was. What a place it was.

(23,694 posts)I have nothing in my personal history which is related to the Marine Corps, much less LeJeune. My husband is a Marine Brat, but it seems he could not qualify

(11,237 posts)If so, that would be the connection, but just the Maines could be enough of a connection. I get the ads because I'm in NC, but I also had a cousin who was a Marine officer's wife and they were at Camp Lejune for several years in the very early 70's. He died of brain cancer, and she passed from a different type of cancer, I'm not sure which. Editing to add, the connection meaning the algorithm triggering the ad, but they are also running it everywhere on teevee too.

If you have questions about the claims process or need assistance with filing your claim, you can contact the TCU at (757) 341-4583. The U.S. Navy Judge Advocate Generals Corps says the TCU is not able to provide updates on the status of individual claims at this time.

(23,084 posts)These law firms are buying email addresses for a dime a million. It really is obnoxious. And no matter how many times I mark them as spam, they keep coming into my regular email.

(37,512 posts)snip-"For roughly 30 years, beginning in the 1950s, service members at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, N.C., risked exposure to contaminated drinking water. This summer, President Biden signed a bill making it easier for people to sue the government for illnesses that came from it. But key details, like how the government will handle what could be one of the largest mass civil cases in history, remain muddy. But as Jay Price of member station WUNC reports, personal injury attorneys aren't waiting for clear directives."

She said it wrong at least 10 times, which was amazing.
Dysfunctional
(452 posts)That is the correct pronunciation since it is named after Lt. General LeJeune, 13th commandant or the Marine Corp. I still hear some of the older veterans saying LeJern.
