Politico: Walker's team knew of an abortion allegation months before it surfaced

Months before news broke alleging that Herschel Walker paid for an abortion, top Republicans in the state — including those advising his team — warned him that the story could torpedo his campaign.

Four people with knowledge of those preliminary discussions said that the abortion issue was well known within the state, even before reporters began inquiring about it.

It was brought to the attention of those working on Walker’s behalf, in part as a means of discouraging him from running. His team downplayed the potential disruption it would cause. But, according to one of those people, they did not outright deny it.

“It was, ‘Eh, it’s not going to come out, you’re being hyperbolic,’” said one top Georgia GOP operative, granted anonymity to discuss private conversations. “The reaction was not, ‘They’re not going to say that because it never happened.’ It was like everything else, ‘Eh, people aren’t going to find out.’”

of the "fake media". I've already seen replies elsewhere that it was a long time ago and he is a changed man. There is nothing that can fix the GOP mindset.

Trump literally could shoot someone and get away with it if the only witnesses were MAGAts.

What is so frustrating is that makes a formidable politcal foe. Because they can force the whole nation to accept draconian sexist restrictions like abortion choices stripped away. Yet one of their candidates can pay for multiple abortions and run against someone who is happily married with a family, and they don't blink an eye.

So they can have it both ways. They have trained their minds, or more likely Hate Radio has done that, to simply have tunnelvision that the only way forward to save the country, is to rid the country of Democrats. And that any news like this, any news that should hurt their candidate, is regarded as either 1. fake 2. minimized 3. a Democratic plot

That makes it so difficult to run against them. They can march on the streets in support of taking away abortion rights, and then cheer on candidates like Walker and Trump with their past sordid and abusive history with women.

I think the smarter advisors in the GOP have realized that they can take advantage of how their base is so conditioned that way from Hate Radio/TV. They know we can be egged on to eat our own like Franken with just a little nudge. By highlighting even a minor infraction outside of our sides moral fence posts. Yet if they are found to be hypocrites of their own moral codes, they can simply ignore it, tell their R constituents that its a "witch hunt", and otherwise just ignore it until it falls down the page in the news cycle.

How do you beat a party that is so duplicitous?

The reporter who broke the story mentioned on MSNBC last night that he is not convinced that the story he reported is the same abortion of which staff was aware.
