ATLANTA Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker left reporters out of his public appearance Tuesday at one of Atlantas most well-known churches.
It comes after an explosive allegation in the Daily Beast that he asked a former girlfriend to get an abortion and paid for it.
Channel 2 investigative reporter Justin Gray tried talking to Walker Tuesday about this campaign bombshell.
He asked for Walker to sit down with him and talk about the article and its claims in a one-on-one interview. Gray also tried to attend the prayer luncheon hosted for Walker at a prominent Atlanta church.
Yelling at his moving car was as close as Gray was allowed to get to Walker.
Gray was told reporters werent welcome at what was billed as a Walker prayer luncheon at First Baptist Atlanta.
There was a decision by the campaign and the church to not allow media, a representative told Gray. This is a closed event. Its a prayer event with faith leaders.
The prayer luncheon comes one day after the explosive allegations that in 2009 Walker encouraged his then girlfriend to have an abortion.

(79,302 posts)Republican groups are publicly vowing to spend huge money to help Walker overcome the late controversy. But Republicans are privately acknowledging the report, which Walker has vehemently denied, could be a death blow and are trying to limit the damage to his campaign.
Walker campaign manager Scott Paradise addressed staff on Tuesday morning, telling aides that the allegation that Walker had paid for an abortion was a setback this close to the election, according to a source familiar with the remarks.
Senior campaign officials, who spent much of Tuesday morning fielding calls from grassroots volunteers and checking in with state legislators and local GOP leaders to ensure Walker wasnt losing support, planned to conduct a frank conversation about the abortion allegation with their boss on Tuesday, said a person close to the Walker campaign. The identity of the woman making the claim was withheld by the Daily Beast, which first reported the allegation against Walker. CNN has not independently confirmed the allegation.
Once we have more of the facts, we can go about our jobs and go win this thing, said the person close to the Walker campaign.

(19,204 posts)that a major political party would vet potential candidates for any elected position in government; local, state, and federal. With the republican party, though, one would be completely wrong.
The slate of candidates the GQP has unleashed on the American voters would be comical if comedy were the intent, but we're talking about the business of running the government of the most powerful country in the world. Comedy should be the last thing about which we're concerned.
Of course the reason the republican party is unconcerned about this is about control. The wealthy benefactors of the republican party want to totally control the actions of their investments. They want to control every vote, every bill, and every expenditure by the government, and they certainly don't have the well being of the general citizenry in mind. All they want to do is feather their own nests.
Yet approximately 40% of this country's voters will automatically cast their ballot for these totally unqualified, comically inept candidates.
Democrats and Independents (as much as Independents can be relied upon) are the only elements standing in their way.
Stand fast, Democrats. Stand fast.
