(15,923 posts)Thats the quickest way to lower gas prices. Youd think all governors would do this before the election.

(4,112 posts)that they approved extending that cut to the end of the year. Smart, especially with the large budget surplus we have now in CT.

(2,534 posts)does one handle gas prices that high? I'm having a difficult time now and it $3.25. They say, (you know them) it's going up to $5.00 and if this happens it would break me.

(20,877 posts)I am disabled and can't go out much as I'm not well.
About once a week I go to the store locally (luckily there is a Grocery Outlet nearby) and there are other stores as well, like a Safeway and one very overpriced health food store.
There is an Indian casino that is about 10 miles away. They are literally buying customers at this point, sending people as much as $210+ a week.
I usually try to go on the day they do this which tends to be once a week.
Otherwise, I haven't been into the county seat to shop because it would cost me $15 to do it so I canceled my Costco membership being it wasn't viable any longer, esp. considering that my husband passed away in May. The amount of food being consumed is at least 2/3 less and other expenses are way down.
I spent a lot of time and gasoline driving him around to all of his necessary medical appointments for the last 13 years of his life. In the end he was having eye surgery every 2 months. It was very wearisome.
Luckily the place I go to for medical care and the dentist are all within a couple of miles of where I live.
If I had a job and had the commute I once had (it was 100 miles a day R/T for a part-time job that paid $8.64 an hour) it would not be worth doing in today's world at a higher wage.
I don't know how people with several cars and trucks manage! Lots of thefts going on everywhere it seems to me, or at least I hear about a lot of them. Nothing has happened to me personally but I don't really have anything much to steal.
I'm wondering how much higher it will go?
