(45,018 posts)1. Maybe smart money doesn't want to fund crazy
Musk has sure undermined his credibility these past few months. Can't really blame investors for getting cold feet.

and won't be even should he buy it.
It's all about the money.

Trump being back would be a disaster.

(19,107 posts)6. Trump being back would mean nothing
Trump already posts to social media endlessly and the media reports on it breathlessly.
What would suck though is he'd definitely allow anti science data on Covid back on, as well as people trying to push the Big Lie.
Would also, probably let Russia tell their side of the invasion on it too.

Zero chance this is a deal-breaker. They were only looking at a 1 billion usd position.

According to Chibuike Oguh from Reuters, Apollo Global Management, Inc. (APO) is backing out of Twitter, Inc. (TWTR) buyout financing for Elon Musk. According to a person familiar with the matter, Apollo Global Management, which was looking to provide $1 billion earlier this year to Elon Musk for the deal, is no longer in talks with the billionaire.

Apollo had previously considered taking part in Musks offer to buy Twitter at $44 billion or $52.40 a share in April of this year. At the time, Apollo weighed whether it should provide another bidder with the proper equity or debt for the purchase.
Dozens of outside firms had offered to help Musk buy the social media platform, including the crypto exchange giant Binance. Of the outside firms, Apollo had sought to lead preferred financing for Musks Twitter bid.
