After seeing Matt Walsh's most recent comments I decided to google him. I looked at his Wikipedia page and it turns out he is one of those men who love to point out how the U.S. military is so weak but, seem to have never been in the military. I find it interesting that a number of the Conservative men like Walsh, Ben Shaprio, Steven Crowder, and Ben Domenech who scream the loudest about the military and men being weak have never been in the military.

Seems to happen all the time with these folk.

However, I would think that like many other Rambo wannabees at Basic Training he would lose control of his shit as he took of his mask in the gas chamber.
Psych evaluation over.

(72,187 posts)And every time the military opens up to transgender people, or opens combat positions to women, or makes a shaving exception for Sikh soldiers, I applaud and cheer. Our diversity is our strength. I've got nothing but contempt for assholes who talk tough but don't have the stones to serve.

(18,060 posts)This retired Marine agrees with you, the only combat they've experienced is video game, like Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, etc, where, when your character dies, you just push the reset button.
I suspect that the first round fired in their direction would send them back to mommy's house with a load in their britches and crying.

(40,915 posts)Tom DeLay and Dan Quayle military service
He and Quayle, DeLay explained to the assembled media in New Orleans, were victims of an unusual phenomenon back in the days of the undeclared Southeast Asian war. So many minority youths had volunteered for the well-paying military positions to escape poverty and the ghetto that there was literally no room for patriotic folks like himself. Satisfied with the pronouncement, which dumbfounded more than a few of his listeners who had lived the sixties, DeLay marched off to the convention.

(1,766 posts)And that was a fricking day camp compared to the other branches' basic training. I know. I was there, and trying not to laugh my head off at how easy it was.
Or maybe it wasn't so bad to me because a) I was in my mid-20s when I joined and b) I'd already endured living with my mother. The woman who had cleaning standards so exact that we had to use a toothbrush to clean the floors where the tile met the baseboards, and wash out the washer and dryer EVERY LOAD. Had to scrub the lint filter after cleaning it out, too.
Even the USAF wasn't that damned picky or anal.

They would wash out of basic very quickly. People are mean to them in basic and they can't be mean back.

(1,766 posts)Getting on their case over whatever.
They'd fall apart over that.
The rare occasions when I got the yelling in my face, I did the same thing I did with my mother: I zoned out to a happy place inside my head, and didn't let it get to me. Don't argue, don't say anything unless you must, just let them rant until they tire themselves out. Oh, you're still yelling? Okay, whatever. Keep yelling. Yawn.
My refusal to engage drove my mom nuts, but the military praised me for keeping my cool, even when I was getting smacked around, verbally. I didn't have the heart to tell them that, after my mother, they were child's play.
Warpy
(114,615 posts)and maybe some of them did. It's gnawed at them for years, so they go out and LARP.
I, too, had a mother, and yes, it's great fun watching them try to push all the buttons you've disconnected. It came in handy for me, too.
