Thousands of Starlink terminals, which are made by Elon Musk-owned SpaceX, were donated by the company, purchased by the US government or crowdfunded by donors to help Ukrainian troops operate drones, receive vital intelligence updates and communicate with each other in areas where there are no other secure networks. The systems which connect a small antenna to a 35-centimetre-high terminal also provide internet for Ukrainian civilians.*
Some of the outages led to a catastrophic loss of communication in recent weeks, said one senior Ukrainian government official with direct knowledge of the issue. Many were reported as soldiers breached the frontline into Russian-controlled territory and some during pitched battles, the official said, speaking under the condition of anonymity......

Ukrainian officials said connectivity issues started when Ukrainian soldiers liberated territory that was once Russian-controlled and moved past the front lines, according to the report.
The report prompted a response from Kinzinger on Twitter, who said that Musk "should make a statement."
"Or, this should be investigated," Kinzinger added. "This is a national security issue.

They can control who can access from where.

(6,570 posts)going on here. StarLink is still in "Beta" mode and, last I looked, outages on many parts of the network are still common (as are substantial variations in download/upload speeds).
I also would not be quick to blame Musk - for all we know now, the Russians may be jamming the thing.

(35,824 posts)The best thing that could happen would be for ford and GM to come up with a really high quality line of EVs and put him out of of business. I dont think its impossible from what I am reading. The tesla is really not that great a car, and Im being kind.
