Spanking For Jesus? Fringe Christian Group's Controversial Tactics
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/christian-domestic-discipline-spanking-jesus-marriage_n_3479646

When a follower of the Christian Domestic Discipline movement decides what to hit his God-fearing wife with, research is important. A hairbrush, for example, is "excellent for achieving the desired sting" but can break easily. Alternatively, a ping pong paddle is quiet and sturdy but may not sting as much as is required to get the message across.
These bits of information are among the tips and tricks detailed in the Beginning Domestic Discipline's "Beginner's Packet," a 54-page document that lays out the basic principles and practices of CDD. The packet's writers describe the movement as follows:
Domestic discipline is the practice between two consenting life partners in which the head of the household (HoH) takes he necessary measures to achieve a healthy relationship dynamic; the necessary measure to create a healthy home environmental and the necessary measures to protect all members of the family from dangerous or detrimental outcomes by punishing the contributing, and thus unwanted, behaviors for the greater good of the family.
CDD is a lifestyle in which spanking and other punishments (loss of privileges, time outs, etc.) are used to maintain an orderly, Christian household, according to christiandomesticdiscipline.com. The man is dominant, and the wife is submissive, as detailed in the Bible, the site explains.

(52,935 posts)any women's votes to win. He must have just emerged from a bubble. His views are crazy.
Republicans know he is a wack-a-doodle candidate which would explain why I only see anti Maggie Hassan ads, but no ads FOR their candidate. They are evidently hopeful that people will be so turned off by Hassan that they'll just automatically vote for her opponent.

(52,935 posts)So far everything I read was supportive of her comments and there were a lot of good responses. It is really hard to find anyone, even republicans, who are supportive of this creep. Any votes he gets will just be anti Hassan votes. No one wants him.

(8,132 posts)Let that sink in for a minute. He is a retired Brigadier General. He had Senate confirmation for several promotions. Nobody noticed that he was a little...out there?

(22,003 posts)For most in Congress, however, these confirmations are more or less a rubber stamp. It's the military's promotion process in the rarified ranks, loaded with strange political games based on seniority, that's the problem. Nothing new really. The US military has a bad habit over the years of promoting some real jackasses until a serious shooting war weeds out the dead wood. The first years of US involvement in WWII and virtually the entire Vietnam war for instance.

(22,003 posts)There are more than a few complete loons in the "full bird" and above ranks. Not a huge number, but a few. The Flynn brothers for instance.

(13,408 posts)I always wondered why women supported Phyllis Schlafly, whose message was that women should stay home, raise children, and be subservient to men. Meanwhile, she refused to stay home and made money on frequent public appearances. Hypocrisy has always been an attractant for Republicans.
