Today I'm going to be finishing up a big batch of postcards that will be going out to Nevada voters.

Got another batch ready to mail on the 13th.
I swear, the fatigue level is unexpected, but its definitely there. I think my Indivisible group is starting to deal with it.
My canvassing partner is a good friend and she did a shift yesterday, too. I didnt canvas yesterday, but Saturdays are my Call to Action email day - at least to write and do preliminary editing. We ordinarily write five asks a week. And Fridays several of us meet at one of the busy corners and hold campaign posters and wave at the traffic for an hour.
But lately, we cut back to three as our pals in our neighboring Indivisible group did months ago. They suffered from losing some members. And Hey! I can totally understand! Were all getting tired! We lost a couple of regular writers because at least one of em wound up working at the local Democrats headquarters and putting in lots of hours, so she had to pass on our activities. You can only do so much.
And yeah, I feel like Im kinda running on fumes, but now that were in October, Im gonna try to muscle on til the end. My friend reminded me yesterday: will you look back after the election and regret that you didnt go as all-out as you could? And thats gonna keep me fired up. Its gonna have to.

(81,441 posts)My friend with whom I canvass nudged me to one more, last Sunday, after Id been busy on it all week (postcards, sign waving, our Indivisible groups Call to Action email, blogging and messaging) - with the reminder: when its all over, will you wish youd done just a little bit more?
I couldnt NOT give in. Catholic guilt or some such motivation.

(10,053 posts)We need to block everything Saudi, remove all troops, and stop selling them weapons. Its not as if they can get them from Russia now since Russia has none to spare and what they have seems not to work very well.

(47,522 posts)many women joined the crowds. Iran under the Shah was secular and many women were professional workers, dressed in the most fashionable way.
And I remember wondering why intelligent, educated, successful women would choose an oppressive regime that would force them to hide behind black covering.
I suppose it was replacing one oppressive regime with another.
I have no idea whether in current Iran women are allowed to hold professional jobs.

(2,412 posts)Women in Iran who helped overthrow the government in 79 were not aware that the mullahs would take over the government they fought for. The Mullahs took advantage of chaos and took over. Women in Iran outnumber men at university and hold all kinds and levels of professional jobs. Iran is a country of well educated sophisticated people v. The country bumpkins and religious fundamentalists.

(4,552 posts)Women and their contributions are once again being underestimate. It is bull shit and I am tired of it!
Women have led a lot of revolutions. This is not a seismic or original event.
I hope the people of Iran get their freedom.

(14,586 posts)Let us join them, and let us march to the polls in record numbers and vote our very own homegrown 'christian' dominionist thugs out off office, and implement the reforms that are necessary to save our republic.
Because how is the tyranny of our right-wing 'christian' Supreme court and the Christofascist Republican party any different than the tyranny of an Ayatollah?

(34,437 posts)Women in Iran must've been devastated, although I know that some women supported the oppression, I guess.

(10,202 posts)They are incubators for fetuses, or shadow covered hidden object to be seen by only one owner, or surgically altered Barbie dolls to be played with then abandoned once worn out, or baby makers capable of spitting out as many hungry mouths as a man can afford, or secondary citizens treated like slaves to be manipulated and controlled.
But in religion's eyes they are never just people allowed bodily autonomy and the exercise of their free will just like men. Religion is a scam and abuses all women.
I never understood how so many woman coud believe the magical myths religion spewed out to keep them from being fully functional adults.
I am so happy to see Iranian women exercising their free will and self autonomy now. How do you like that you religious misogynists?
