House Republicans plan another debt ceiling showdown to force massive budget cuts

By Josh Israel -October 11, 2022 4:30 PM

Republicans in Congress have a history of using the national debt ceiling as a tool for demanding budget cuts — but only when a Democrat is in the White House.

Republicans are hoping to use a potential majority in the House of Representatives next year to force massive cuts to the federal budget, especially to safety net programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. To do this, they say they will use must-pass increases to the nation's debt limit as leverage to get what they want, even though similar gambits actually cost the country billions of dollars during President Barack Obama's administration.

The debt limit, the maximum amount the government may legally borrow, is currently at about $31.4 trillion and will likely be reached in 2023. Congress will have to vote to raise, suspend, or eliminate that cap to avoid what economists say would be catastrophic default on obligations.

Aaron Fritschner, communications director and deputy chief of staff to Democratic Rep. Don Beyer of Virginia, the chair of the congressional Joint Economic Committee, tweeted Tuesday, "House Republicans saying out loud that holding the debt limit hostage to demands for cuts to Social Security and Medicare is a 'top priority.'"

And another factoid these three ass wipes putting it lightly, also think that the last election should have been overturned....., but they want to attack the aged, disabled across the country and in there individual states........and these ass wipes think that everyone on Social Security and Medicare are creating the debt issue......no m******kers it was you and your fascist right wing assholes that voted to give tax cuts, the last one was 1.5 TRILLION, that was not covered.......they still have not gotten the memo.....that MY Social Security and my Medicare is:
1) MY MONEY that was taken out of my paycheck (7.6% tax, plus 7.6% tax from the company) so that I would not be out on the street with a cardbox piece of paper saying homeless....God Bless.........to make the company I worked for rich and get tax breaks

2) MY MEDICARE I get is taken out of the monthly pay out of my "EARNED" Social Security ass wipes ....so my ENTITLEMNENT money is not creating the debt .......ass wipes........

But like all authoritarian fascist assholes they want to gain power and just blame everyone else for there BS rhetoric........

Democrats need to go on offense NOW.

Lots of Seniors living in Florida, Arizona, and Texas who are on Social Security and have Medicare. They will not like their programs cut, while Republicans call for more tax cuts for the rich.

Now on to Florida, Texas, and elsewhere.

Val Demmings will be on this as Marco Rubio is for this as Florida is home to a vast number of Seniors on these programs.

Make retirement age 70 and cut monthly checks. They won’t touch current retirees. That’s what the house did in 1986. All future retirees.

All I'm seeing is third party attack ads in favor of Tom Kean.

The reality is - Kean is for cuts to SS, Medicare - and is harshly anti-abortion.

I need a third party attack ad in favor of Malinowski.
