Horrifying moment president of Mexico's Hunting Federation is killed by a buffalo after firing a .408 caliber rifle at the one-ton beast in Argentina

Mexican hunter, Mario Canales, was killed by a buffalo during a hunting outing in Entre Ríos, Argentina, last Friday

The 64-year-old avid hunter and another friend were taking aim at the one-ton animal when it charged at them and rammed Canales

The group's tour guide was standing near the men and fired five shots and killed the buffalo
Canales was rushed to a hospital but went into shock and died before arriving

An autopsy revealed that he suffered multiple rib and sternum fractures as well as blows to the abdomen

I don't mind meat hunters but I despise "sport" hunters. They should bury the man with his .408 hanging out of .......

Pretty sure this happened at a big game hunting ranch.

Water buffalo are not native to Argentina.

(Being nit picky about the daily mail. Yes, water buffalo could be hunted illegally, but I'm pretty sure this is not the case)

The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Entre Ríos has opened an investigation into the incident and to analyze the permits held by the Punta Caballos-based company that organized the trip, specifically to check if they had the required documentation to hunt buffalo. Canales Najjar’s three companions will also be questioned to determine who hired the sport hunting company, which charges $500 a day for excursionshttps://english.elpais.com/international/2022-10-12/head-of-mexican-hunting-federation-killed-by-charging-buffalo-in-argentina.html

I believe the investigation is a formality

12. Water buffalo or Cape buffalo?

At first, I thought the animal must have been a Cape buffalo from Africa because they are often the target of trophy hunters there as I understand it. See for instance Hemingway’s “Short Happy Life . . .”

And they can be very aggressive and hard to bring down.

But checking this out on the inter-webs, sure enough Argentina DOES import water buffalo for sport hunting. Since these have been domesticated at one time, I’m surprised that they are aggressive enough to charge like that.

I mean, I get it intellectually, but I never understood WHY anyone would WANT to do that and get any satisfaction out of it. It takes a mentallity that will always remain foreign to me.

Well that's smart..not!!
It was one of those hunting adventures and they have a permit for pigeons? Fly thousands of miles to shoot pidgeons
I'm sure he can get plenty of those in Mexico!
