You guys have embolded me

I am generally pretty chicken to advertise my political beliefs when I'm at the store (which is pretty much all I leave the house for) because I don't want to start a fight, but reading about how DUers have handled or even invited conversation with RWers, I got out my big hot pink button from the late 60's-early 70's and wore it to Lowe's and to the supermarket.

What does it say? I'm pro-choice and I'm supremely pissed off.

I got only two reactions: At Lowe's, I saw a woman with a service dog. The dog's harness sported a Fetterman button. I said to the lady, "Glad to see your dog's a democrat", and showed her my button.
We high-fived.

At the grocery store, the young check-out clerk said shyly "I like your button." I said "Don't forget to vote!"

And it's all you guys' fault. Thank you.

But it really bucks other people up to know they're not alone. Be sunny and optimistic, no matter what reaction you get. It will encourage the like-minded and piss off the simple-minded.

and advocate as you feel comfortable, but take some of these “I confronted a Magat” threads with a grain of salt.

Don’t put yourself in danger because of someone’s internet tough guy story.

I made about 30 little pins in 2016. They were all hand made and about 2" high and were of a Russian nesting doll with tRump's face on it and I made him have crazy eyes. Every time I went out I wore mine and so many people complimented it that I ended up making 2 batches of them since people took them and wore them. I was glad to spread the word.

My home made "lock him up" hoop earrings with his face behind bars were popular but when Covid came I couldn't wear earrings or they get caught in my mask straps.

My current home made button is a red circle with a red slash through it "stop the GOP/pro-choice" and I made a tiny wire hanger out of a paper clip and it hangs on a little chain on the button. I got a lot of raves for that one.

The last year before Covid. If I could post photos from my tablet I'd share it with you. Everyone in my neighborhood knew who I was. The year before that little girls dressed as RBG were all over the neighborhood (it is a Blue area).

You know who I'd like to see a guy dress up as? Randy Rainbow with his pink glasses.

and I think even I could bend a paperclip into a coat hanger--maybe even dip the end in some red fingernail polish if I wanted to get graphic for the youngsters who may not be aware of its significance--and hang it around my neck--thanks for the idea!

hanging from earrings though. Even without mask straps they would still get caught in hair.

Thanks for the testimonial, cyclonefence!

Glad to hear the positive reaction! What you’re accomplishing is reinforcing the messaging with others who see it the same way but might be a little bit shaky about proclaiming it openly, or surrounded by doubters and other trumpers.
