Conservative Muslims join forces with Christian right on Michigan book bans

Interesting Considering Islam itself was founded by a man in his 50s that marreid a 6 year old girl . And we know the Xtian Cults with people like Josh Duggar . But they want to point to others .

A recent school board meeting at which about 1,000 people gathered in Dearborn, Michigan, to pressure district officials to censor books with LGBTQ+ themes was in most ways similar to hundreds of other recent book ban hearings across the US.

Speakers alleged the books “promote mental health issues” and “self harm”, while the school district and liberals were seeking to “indoctrinate children”. Gay people, they said, were “creeps and pedohiles”, and gay lifestyles were equated with zoophilia.

“American values and the American way is not child pornography,” one angry parent told the Dearborn public school board.

But the speakers were not the white, rightwing conservative Christians usually behind efforts to censor literature in public schools. Instead, the heated audience was almost all Muslim Arab Americans.

Since it's a report on a single school board meeting by a single guy... there's no "agreement". Alexander Of Assyria Oct 2022 #7

Couldn't they agree on serving the poor, since both of their religions actually call for that? SunSeeker Oct 2022 #4

They have more in common than they'll ever admit. As Van Halen said, "Why Can't This Be Love?"

And it’s the Guardian, so….and think the evangelicals out number the conservative Muslims a thousand to one. Who’s the real problem?

Science has yet to learn "everything" about the human brain... I approve of teaching our children to be "explorers" of compassionate learning about how to live in a real world full of diversity. Laws against certain behaviors MUST reflect having good boundaries, at the very least, resting on the privacy to choose to learn to meet the challenges one will come across in a civil society... and not by exploitation. I do agree that some issues are harder to explain to children at all stages of development but how best to teach the freedoms to be and accept the different people one meets are challenging when no one has all the scientific facts or all the answers to the toughest questions of children. One learns something about each book one reads...banning them teaches that learning from books is "off-limits."

Parents, teachers, and administrators: Always be as honest as possible...perhaps an "I don't really know all the facts, and people's personal beliefs and behaviors can be so interesting; let's learn together" is the best answer possible.

The only difference between Sharia Law and Fundamentalist Christian Values is the name they use for the god or demigod whose teachings they pretend to follow.

It is doubtful Aiesha was 6 when Muhammed married her, but do keep on with pedophile talking points. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/belief/2012/sep/17/muhammad-aisha-truth

Conservative Muslims are like conservative Christians and conservative Jews. It's not the religion but the qualifier before its title describing how the religion is practiced that matters.
