Trump alludes to a very old anti-Semitic trope when he says American Jews should be grateful to him for all the nice things he’s done for Israel. He goes further with this by saying that American Evangelicals love him for what he's done for Israel — leaving out the fact that in the American Evangelical worldview Jews are slated to burn in Hell for eternity, and their only function is to convert so Jesus can return and ??? whatever it is they fantasize about the End Times and total destruction of the Earth and the Rapture.

As far as I can tell, the Orthodox and Netanyahu think American Evangelicals are useful idiots and have no interest in conversion.

I get really tired of conversations about anti-Semitism in America and people feel the need to blather on about Israel or other Jews, it is almost as if they are trying to blame anti-Semitism on Jews or find fault for this or that Jew for not being more vocal. Why not focus on the ACTUAL problem, rather than trying to distract with other issues.

4. Good, gonna watch. Tolerance and acceptance of antisemitism are just as damaging.

Maybe substitute "black" for Jewish and black racist dogwhistles (like any reference to "ape" or "high crime" ) for Jewish dogwhistles (like "the benjamins," "exploit," "shadowy force around the world" ) and see if it should be accepted.

Or just imagine running it by tRump, the MAGAs, Qcreeps and see if they approve.

The Conference of Presidents said on Friday that she “described a shadowy force acting behind the curtains in both places and around the world, controlling a system which is ‘designed by those who exploit the rest of us, for their own profit.’ Through her pointing to the tensions between Israel and Gaza, and saying that ‘they do it from Gaza to Detroit,’ it is clear that she is suggesting that the Jews are the uniting factor.

…where they expanded the discussion based on the podcast series Rachel is currently doing on America’s last serious flirtation with fascism.

I’m trying to remember the names of Nicolle’s guests — Stengel, who appears often, and Goldblatt, head of the ADL. One of them said they feel as though American Jews are currently like the frogs starting to slowly boil.

Trump let all of America’s old demons out of their bat-haunted caves. It’s important that we recognize that he did not cause them or invent them — he just let them out and gave them all the public space anyone could want, and gave them permission to be as bad as they could be.

Rachel is trying to tell us, in her intense and scholarly way. So are the folks at PBS, as they will be airing a series on America’s response to the Holocaust — and not the part where we were the heroes of the story. Now Nicolle has joined in.

These are perilous times — but we have allies.
