Does it make any difference?
Would it affect the election one way or the other?
That may be one of the questions the Committee is asking itself as they ready the subpoena for the former disgraced, criminal president?
Both Parties are probably waiting to see what direction the voters are going? Regardless, the Democrats will be in charge until the 3rd of January.
They can continue to hope that the Republicans will awaken from their political nightmare and do what is required by the law and the Constitution, and in the process, save our democracy. Or they can accept the reality that a violent attempted coup to overthrow our government is no big deal. That a conspiracy of sedition can be ignored and swept under the rug. That espionage, and the theft of America's secrets by a criminal former president, can simply be forgotten.
Or they can continue to investigate and expose the crimes of the other Party, in hopes that they or their supporters will awaken from their nightmare, and do what is best for our country?

(115,615 posts)But it needed to be done as soon as it happened, before Republicans circled their wagons and decided that was the only way to save their Party. There was a short window of time when they all admitted publicly what had happened. They chose to put Party over Constitution and Country.

(43,244 posts)It's still not too late, but it needs to be done before the midterm.

(4,128 posts)He should receive both a subpoena and indictment today. Do not pass go. Do not scam $200.
He is not running for office, so the DOJ rule, that only applies to protection of rethuglicans and can be used by federalist society members, looking at you Comey, to smear Dems does not apply.
Justice delayed is justice denied.

(32,760 posts)the J6 committee is busy writing up its final report and Trump will appeal so no, it's not going to happen before the election.

(39,700 posts)It's time to treat him like the ordinary citizen that he is.
But an indictment has to mean that the DOJ has the case against him DOWN COLD... no room for error.
And I would prefer that the indictment not be on some lame-ass "obstruction" charge. He's committed some serious crimes... get him on one of those.
kentuck
(115,615 posts)His supporters will believe him.
The only way to stop his pretending is to put him on trial, under oath, so everyone can see exactly what he did, not just what he says he didn't do.

(7,941 posts)he should have been indicted, tried, and convicted long before now!

(9,263 posts)should have been arrested and charged for at least one of his dozens of crimes by now. I'm sick of hearing about this traitor running around free and pretty sure that won't change.
