Headed into Flagstaff to shop, after an overwhelming deposit went into my account from GoFundMe. There was nearly 10X my goal in there!!! I didn't expect that!
It turns out much serendipity to it, via more good news.
Not only will I see my doctor and get tests, but I'm hired for a job starting mid-November! I'll get back on track altogether, then pay off my first hospital bill sooner (the one on low payments but it's a whopper)
I've turned off the donations. It will be more than enough, but greatly advantageous for fixing a number of items in disrepair, obtain Tiago's heartworm chews (one left), and pay rent up front when I start new gig.
Once I'm money ahead enough I'll be certain to return this good karma somehow. It's restored my faith in people that had gotten a bit dark after unexpected layoff.
Thank you again, keep the faith DU'ers!
Let's pray the midterms go well! Screw those MAGA idiots. Just driving around Arizona are some facepalmworthy crazy campaign signs.

(21,432 posts)It's good to know that things are looking better for you.
Some of the credit goes to you, too, for continuing to look for work and for venting in the right place, where people who care were able to respond.
Best of everything in the future.

(3,234 posts)Now this is truly something to celebrate!
I shared your GoFundMe link on my personal Twitter which has nearly 85,000 followers.
I can't stand seeing people suffering because this country still does not have Medicare For All and healthcare here is centered on huge corporations making profits instead of care. Capitalism has NO place in human rights.
This made my day hearing that you were able to get the help you need!
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!

(16,254 posts)alone. What good news that you've been hired for a job. Jobs give us more than a salary. It is a purpose that can't be bought.
Good luck!

(6,181 posts)Sometimes an individual need(s) are not desperate but no less a need.
One of my favorite pay it forward for us was helping a young high school graduate get some professional help in applying for college.
The individual was smart and had good grades and a work ethic. He/she came from a dysfunctional home and wanted to go to college. The application process can be hard with good family support but nearly impossible without it.
We hired a known individual with experience who helped walk our applicant through the process of choosing schools to apply to, guiding the writing and editing of required essays to accompany the applications.
The whole process cost us less than tickets for one professional football game.
He /she managed to get into the first-choice school they wanted. Graduate 4 years later with honors. Met their future partner and now have one child and full-time jobs.
The best football game we never went to.
PAY IT FORWARD! It is so easy, and it always makes your day better.

(6,078 posts)A few years ago I had a gofundme to help trap/neuter/release feral cats in my neighborhood. I successfully TNR'd a few cats with the help of DUers. Then, I found a group to help me in here in Gadsden county from Leon county, FL. My feral cat situation is so much better.
Thank you, DUers for helping. Your community spirit and generosity is much appreciated.

(2,809 posts)It's highly unusual for organizations to break a traveler's contract, and 2 of us got unexpectedly swept out the door-- want to know yet another kicker about this? It was one week after I told my big boss that the new fresh rookie, I thought would replace me mid-November, that she was nearly ready to fly on her own from my training that myself and another traveler were told of our contracts being cut.
Oops.
It's sort of what I meant by it doesn't pay to be honest.
I certainly would have arranged a low payment plan like on my first surgery, I figured I'd still have several paychecks for the "traveler gap".
I'm going to give a clue what organization did this to us.
