I'm of the opinion she would hurt us more and if she comes to that conclusion she won't run.

(7,449 posts)The issue is what moderate republicans do. In any case, if she runs, she won't take the nomination, but she may be able to play a spoiler to keep Trump out. Sadly, that would leave DeSatan as the next in line.

(102,026 posts)The ideal scenario is somebody other than Trump gets the Republican nomination and then Trump in a pique runs as third party. In that scenario we win forty states

(10,943 posts)... she could not win the Republican nomination... she could run as an Ind and split the Republican votes... which would give The Donald little chance.

(22,175 posts)I think she'd get some Democratic votes as well. See seems to have a fan club for some reason.

(10,943 posts)... she may make some public "move to the left" on issues. She's already moved toward marriage equality, and will probably get nuanced on abortion. Then, she may move on fiscal issues.... Democrats would be less threatened... BUT, then she loses traditional Republican voters.
I admire her taking a stand for the truth, but I would not vote for her.

(58,785 posts)NOT her conservative ideology or the rest of her record as the GOP became more extremist and betraying, which repels at first glance.
Even Republicans aren't one-dimensional, even if some can only see one.
Now, you might truthfully point out that some far lefties can be hard to distinguish from their far right counterparts and might vote for Cheney to try to defeat the Democratic candidate, but mainstream and liberal Democrats are not going to abandon their core convictions to swing to her.

(46,155 posts)This is a pretty easy to understand concept.
Polybius
(22,175 posts)I doubt she'd do that though.

(40,223 posts)Stand up to Trump when the others running will not
She won't win and she knows it
But she wants to take down Trump with her

(243 posts)Non-Trumpers won't win their primaries. They'll pull "moderate" votes away leaving the MAGA voters to get their candidate into the race.
In the final race, they'll pull moderate votes from the Democratic candidate.

(18,892 posts)Because...
Look at 2020.
Not a SINGLE PERSON who voted for Trump in 2020 will vote for Liz.
Liz WILL GET lots of votes from disaffected Republicans who voted for BIDEN in 2020.

(115,735 posts)Compared to the MAGAs, Liz Cheney is like a liberal Democrat. There is a world of difference between them.
