(8,567 posts)Ryan does best in Ohio when he distances himself from Democratic leadership. Not only is Biden unpopular in Ohio, but it gives him credibility when he attacks Vance for sucking up to Trump.
Anyone who likes/supports Biden is going to be voting for Ryan anyway. This might peel off some independent voters who wouldn't support Biden but have doubts about Vance and Trump.

(35,454 posts)and while it is true that Biden is not that popular in OHIO it is also true that this is the same Tim Ryan who tried to get rid of Nancy Pelose and take her place. He and Krystal Ball team up and formed a group/association that went nowhere.

(35,454 posts)Nancy P. showed her true leadership colors on J6. It's nigh on impossible to beat that.
Ryan lacks the name recognition of other Democratic heavyweights in the race, despite challenging Nancy Pelosi to lead House Democrats in 2017 and again toying with the idea this year. Pelosi prevailed, but Ryan aired his frustrations with Democratic leaders after Trump won the presidency in 2016: If you take state and federal officials, Democratic officials, we have the smallest number since Reconstruction, he said in an interview on MSNBCs Morning Joe. If thats not a call for doing something differently, I dont know what is.

(7,964 posts)The only things that matter now are that Ryan will caucus with the Democrats and vote for Biden's agendas 90 percent of the time, Whining about something like the Pelosi dustup is just pointless.

(35,454 posts)Telling facts is now whining?
Doc Sportello
(7,964 posts)He was mean to Nancy so you bring it up years later when we are trying to keep a Democratic majority in the Senate with a pickup in a red state. Sheesh. Whining is the nicest way of saying it, so be happy with that.

(35,454 posts)and since when does the past not count? I frankly think you lack judgment and don't know what you're talking about. Having a bad day so you thought you'd take it out on a stranger? Sheesh.

(7,964 posts)I pointed out - factually - that worrying about something that happened years ago or might happen in the future is not good in the middle of a hotly contested race that could determine control of the senate. It is petty and counter productive. I had a fine day yesterday and today. Your personal attack on me is petty and shows you can't respond in a civil way. Which says all you need to know about whose judgment and knowledge of the subject is in question here.
Me.
(35,454 posts)and talk about whining
Doc Sportello
(7,964 posts)Real Democrats care about winning the senate. Except for you for some reason. Talk about a lack of judgment. I want to keep the senate and Ryan gives Dems a better chance of that than someone who is a trump humper. How can you not see that. That is a fact. No matter how much whining you do.
Doc Sportello
(7,964 posts)Of how the senate works. Ignorance is not excuse, not in these times. Do some research on why a conservative Democrat is better than a repub. Has to do with committees, etc. Petty personal attacks and childish responses are not an answer.
Doc Sportello
(7,964 posts)So you supporting JD Vance in this race? Maybe you could do his chart and the stars will tell us how it's going to come out.

(71,587 posts)against Democratic legislation. And again would you rather have Vance who will caucus with the GOP win? Don't you get it...nothing matters except keeping a majority. It is the only way we get anything accomplished. And this year everything from Abortion rights to Medicare is on the line.

(10,943 posts)... Tim Ryan wants to win in Ohio. I hope he does! Also, this is keeping in line why Ryan's "independent" streak. Ohio Democrats may be behind this story, and they are playing to win.

(71,587 posts)qualms about Mandela Barnes in Wisconsin, I was assured that Wisconsin had a progressive history. I would not call either Wisconsin nor Ohio a red state. We lost the Governorship of Virginia during the last election...are you aware that without Ohio we must win Virginia. I do not think folks realize what dire straits we are in.

(39,479 posts)and they're both filled with deeply misinformed old white people who vote.
Of course, Senator & Gov are state-wide so the Dems have a shot in those races. Congress, or State Legislatures, not so much.
Voting for the small sliver of the populace that decides elections is irrational. The reasons Biden is unpopular in OH are ghosts; RWNM fictions.

(15,311 posts)It's hard to tell if he's distancing from the President just to win in a reddish state, or he's really some kind of DINO "Third Way" retread.
Ohio Democrats should vote for him over Vance and the rest regardless.
