another tried an true approach that could blend with his ideas.
My in-laws were MAGAs before MAGAs got their name, they were all about guns and vile hatred.
We lived on the same property.
We were called squatters, f…ing hippies, nature lovers etc. The brother would kill birds and rabbits and lay them in the center of our road with a circle spray painted around them to frighten us. He would throw nails on our road to flatten our tires.
We tried everything to change things. Reason including calling police never worked.
Eventually we found their Achilles heal. It was happiness.
We would go outside and sing at the top of our lungs. It worked. They hated it and it helped our kids and us feel in control of our own space. We sang and sang and sometimes we banged on pans along with the songs. My pans wobbled on the burners after that but it was healing. We also waved happily and tooted our car horns when we passed them on the road.
What if communities sent choirs, bands, quartets, comedians, dancers, poets to drop boxes and polling places. They would perform 75 ft away from the drop box. They could even create songs and poems about the drop box. It would be filmed.
The news would cover them not the shit heads AND it would piss off the shit heads to their core.
It would lift the community. It would be cathartic. Voters would feel safe.

Maybe some impromptu bands singing "Imagine" or something really hokey like "Love Will Keep Us Together".
Okay, I'm dating myself.
The best of broad-way.
But I really like the idea of bringing festivity and joy to polling places -- rather than more of the same usual right-wing stock-in-trade, fear and paranoia. It's so sad that fear and paranoia is all that conservatives know.
