Responding to another post on this general discussion by Cyrano regarding God's political affiliation today.

My brother Stewart is a poet/writer activist..and came up with this Title back in the Bush days 20 years ago. I begged him to rewrite it the first year of Trumps position of power. This is what he came up with back in 2018

What if God is a Republican...and leans to the Religious Right
Stirs up things in the middle East cause he loves a damn good fight

What if laughs at the plight of the poor and favors the monied elite
Amuses himself at the homeless despair...as he casts them out on the street

What if he dials up disaster and grief ...and orchestrates hunger and pain?
to hedge up his manifest holdings...and build on his personal gain

What if God blesses corruption...and churches are built on a ruse
and liars and thieves are rewarded..and virtue is only a muse

What if GOD is a Republican...and all of his talkers are too
And everything we've ever pondered...has now been revealed as untrue.

Over and over, the goodly try to put the year of the jubilee back in and each time the bad cancel it. A hungry man is allowed to enter an orchard and eat his fill.
There are a lot of issues with women's rights, but they have more rights in the Old Testament than Republicans give women today. Strangers and the poor are expected to be treated with kindness by Old Testament law. I am not saying the Old Testament is all good, but the New Testament is based on the rules of the Old. Right now, if you pushed for Old Testament law, the Republicans would consider you a radical liberal. Go figure. A lot of the founding fathers thought the Old Testament was cruel. Then again, in the Old Testament, you could only keep a slave for seven years. Seems like the founding fathers were not based in Christian, or Judaic law.
