I've read some of the questions presented to voters and the responses just seem bogus. I just read one poll where a woman responded saying the Democrats have no morals. I can't help but wonder who pollsters are catching in their nets. Most folks I talk to are outraged at Republicans, including Republicans. I live in one of the reddest districts in Texas and I can honestly say I've seen many more Beto signs than Abbott signs. I just cannot believe the polls.

(82,849 posts)Atrios has an example today:
A new series of House polls by The New York Times and Siena College across four archetypal swing districts offers fresh evidence that Republicans are poised to retake Congress this fall as the party dominated among voters who care most about the economy.
Sounds bad for Democrats!
Democrats continue to show resilience in places where abortion is still high on the minds of voters, and where popular incumbents are on the ballot. Indeed, the Democrats were still tied or ahead in all four districts three of which were carried by Mr. Biden in 2020. But the partys slim majority control could flip if just five seats change hands demands that it essentially run the table everywhere, at a moment when the economy has emerged as the driving issue in all but the countrys wealthier enclaves.
Then comes the capper from the story: "Indeed the Democrats were still tied or ahead in all four districts." Wait, what?
This isn't accidental; we're being told to despair and give up 10 days before the election because even though Republicans continue to trail in these vital swing districts, the Knowers of Big Things like Nate Cohn have decided for themselves that it's all hopeless. You don't have to buy what they're selling.
