Let's be very, very clear on that.
Paul Pelosi wasn't the intended target, even though he suffered serious trauma from it. The 3rd most powerful politician in the US was the intended target. Just because the perp fucked up and arrived when she wasn't home doesn't make it any less serious.
It was an assassination attempt, just as much as if someone had fired a shot at Nancy Pelosi but missed.
