(11,158 posts)say they they disapprove of the Trump but that if he were the GOP nominee would still vote for him - Pence is another high profile person that is similar. In my neck of the woods (Texas), most of the GOP voters hate liberals or Democrat so much they would never vote for them no matter the candidate. Herschel Walker is someone else that I think fits that description - they know he is totally unqualified and not of good character but would still vote for him.
I long for the days when people actually considered issues like character, integrity, and ethics when they voted. As bad as things were in the 70's I do think it was better then. I think voters really did want responsible people - even those that I disagreed with politically. Doesn't seem to be the case these days. Not sure how we can reverse this trend? And then again I might be naive?

No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
