1. Refuses to release her tax returns after pledging to do so repeatedly
2. Promptly puts daughter Chelsea and her husband on govt payroll as Presidential advisors (on edit, they drew no salary for those positions . . . See underpants comment below)
3. Actively manages all her business interests instead of putting them into a blind trust like all other modern presidents
4. Does nothing about the first wave of Covid and claims it will miraculously go away in the Spring
5. Tells Antifa to stand back and stand by in a Presidential debate
6. Texts an angry mob to protest at the Capitol Building to prevent the formal count of the Electoral College . . . Be there, it will be wild?
7. Carries off thousands of pages of government documents to keep in her personal possession.
Just imagine the right-wing scream machine if this were HRC instead of Cheetolini.

(4,475 posts)Of course it wouldn't have gotten past the Senate since she would be innocent of whatever they drummed up.

(60,835 posts)Otherwise, just as Republicans voted their party rather than country or conscience, the Democrats would have done likewise.
Needless to say, HRC would never have done any of those things.
Mr.Mystery
(185 posts)She would have gotten a chorus of boos from HER OWN PARTY.
Thats what didnt happen when the Fascist Party falls in line behind Il Duce.

(60,835 posts)In fact, in 2005, I went back to read the Senate speeches mostly from Democrats because Edward's was making claims that he was essential to Clinton's defense and his supporters urged reading his speech. In fact, while many Senators referenced Moynahan, no one mentioned Edwards. The "jury " considered of many excellent lawyers.
It turned out to be an interesting experience and I thought it told more about what was important to each Senator. For the most part, they all had kind of the same outline. They first condemned Clinton actions. Then followed by finding as wrong as these actions were they did no rise to high crimes and misdemeanors and obviously were nor treason or bribery. The Senators, with their staff, clearly took care in writing both of these parts before voting no to remove him.
The connection here is that, per my recollection, all important or prominent Senators spoke and they all condemned what they saw as wrong. I assume Clinton read these and they had to hurt. I don't think in either Trump impeachment, both for major crimes that should have led to yes votes, only a handful of Republicans criticized actions that ALL of them should have criticized.
There is a difference between the parties and we are not blind followers. At a Democratic event, a friend trying to keep us all together noted that it was like herding cats. Better cats than sheep!

this one is that first and foremost our Dems do not do this crap in the first place. It is not helpful to do thought experiments that insert untrue events and motives into peoples heads.
Secondly, it doesnt matter how hard we try to conciliate the GOP or negotiate with them or appease them nothing works. Joe Biden has been as bipartisan in his approach as it is possible to be, and his reward has been that someone he thought was a friend (Lindsey Graham) dishonorably savaged Joes son; and GOPers in the House have put up 14 different impeachment bills just to stay in practice.
In the coming House term, if the Republicans control the House, they have made it pellucidly clear that they plan to impeach the entire top tier of the presidential line of succession: Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi. They mentioned someone else recently as well, but there you have it: since assassination has not yet worked, they will wreak havoc and make it impossible to do the business of governing.
And that is ALL on the GOP. No both sides about it.

(27,550 posts)because, no matter how critical I may have been about HRC as a candidate, I simply cannot conceive of her ever doing a single one of those.
