Voters Without ID Being Turned Away In Pennsylvania
Civil rights groups are concerned that the Pennsylvania voter identification law, which was blocked by a state judge, is nevertheless being enforced in precincts around the state.
"Advancement Project, and our coalition partners, are investigating and addressing what seems to be a pattern in PA of poll workers turning away voters if they dont have voter ID which violates the court order under our lawsuit that stipulated that voters do not need ID for this election," spokesman Rich Robinson wrote in an email. "Its not surprising, because despite the judges ruling, the state continued to run ads telling voters to get ID."

(10 posts)I voted this morning in Palmyra PA(near Hershey PA)Waited 40 mins. This is a very Republican area and the poll worker did come out frequently and told people an ID was not recquired.Overheard some people in line stating they would not show ID in protest. So at least in this little polling place things seemed to be legit.Lets hope its only a few screwed up places pulling this crap.

(7,237 posts)No problems at all. They announced ID was not required and they were clear it was optional. (I did not show mine.)
Our little country polling place was *very* busy!

(5,342 posts)I've read of campaign workers asking for ID outside of voting places but didn't know that the OFFICIALS are doing this too!
