How does one cancel or deactivate their Twitter account?

1. Go to your settings. Somewhere under Account it has deactivate

Do that, and then I think if you don't log in for 30 days, it deletes your account.

5. Your post got me to delete my account as well.

Granted, I don't use it at all and only created it to message someone that keeps track of polls to DM them and let them know that I had gotten a call from a pollster so they could report that such a poll was probably gonna be released soon, but still. Hell, even more reason to cut all ties with them, really. Now I'm one of the deactivated accounts that I'm sure they are keeping track of very closely right now...

I had to have it send me a password since I haven't used it in forever. And then I deactivated it.
