http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/woman-drove-sidewalk-wear-idiot-sign-17650037A woman caught on camera driving on a sidewalk to avoid a Cleveland school bus that was unloading children will have to stand at an intersection wearing a sign warning about idiots.
Court records show a Cleveland Municipal Court judge on Monday ordered 32-year-old Shena Hardin to stand at an intersection for two days next week. She will have to wear a sign saying: "Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus."
The judge ordered her to wear the sign from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. both days.
Hardin's license was suspended for 30 days and she was ordered to pay $250 in court costs.

(2,781 posts)store's doors, on the yellow-and-black fire-lane-only stripes, waiting for someone who's in the store. F-----s! What you said is what I always want to say to them: 'Oh how nice for you - the rules don't apply to you, do they?'

(903 posts)you'd think that there would be some kind of rule about the government doing that kind of thing...

(7,776 posts)She could hang a business card size using 8 point type around her neck (although, I'm sure that would piss the judge off even more).

(903 posts)it could very well be seen as "cruel".

(903 posts)all jurisdictions have statutes that give specific punishments for specific infractions...
if 'wearing a sign' isn't listed as a possible punishment, then it shouldn't be allowed.

(18,775 posts)And that is clearly the judge's intent.
imo- Judges shouldn't be allowed to mete out punishments that aren't clearly defined/outlined in the applicable statutes.

(76,653 posts)At least you're using it in reference to someone who actually ISN'T entitled to this special privilege.
So, this isn't a sense of entitlement, it's a misplaced sense of privilege. The right wing has hijacked the term entitlement, because if it is an entitlement, one is TRULY entitled to it.
But, a misplaced sense of privilege is in inidcative of someone who believes they are owed something they aren't.

(76,653 posts)I was complimenting you for at least using the hijacked term in a way that wasn't perjorative. While i wouldn't have used the word at all, at least you meant it in a way that wasn't made to intentionally obfuscate.
