If repubs take House & Senate. Impeach Biden. Would they refuse a new VP in their hate?

If repubs take House & Senate. Impeach Biden. Would they refuse a new VP in their hate?

They dream of impeaching both Biden & Kamala and installing Speaker MTG (really McCarthy) but it does not work that way.

But it's not true that the speaker of the House — or any other predetermined individual — automatically becomes vice president. Upon becoming president, the former vice president would choose another individual to become his or her vice president.

"Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress," Section 2 of the amendment explains.

Thu Nov 3, 2022, 12:47 PM
Nov 2022

As I recall from a couple years back, conviction wasn't the point.

Impeachment was the worst thing that could happen to a President short of being removed from office. The impeachment would be a part of history and an asterisk might be put next to your name in books.

Even worse would be multiple impeachment. Can you imagine the shame of a President with three, or more, asterisks?

*do I really needs to add it here?*

…mention either or all of the Afghanistan pullout, which Trump engineered; the border situation, which has been screwed-up for decades; or inflation, which is a private-sector thing. In essence they’re impeaching him for being a Democrat. I figure if they accidentally do get the House majority they’ll impeach him over Hunter’s laptop.

And if one impeachment fails they’ll file more. I suspect he’ll be impeached twenty times, and Trump - let’s face it, they don’t have anyone else - will run on a “do you really want to keep a president who’s been impeached twenty times?” platform.

since they won't have 67 Senators. That said, they would never accept a new VP. One of the reasons Nixon picked Ford when Agnew resigned is that Ford was House Minority leader and very popular with both sides of the aisle. He feared his choice could be rejected.

They don't need an actual reasonable justification, just a pretext to tee up a vote and do some grandstanding even if it dies a quick death in the Senate. I've heard that they want to go after Mayorkas on the Border, so their zeal to impeach is not limited to just Biden. The article I read made it sound like McCarthy is not necessarily on board with impeachment and just wants to "Benghazi" Biden before the 2024 Election but may not have any choice if the "base" makes enough noise- assuming they win the House, of course.
