Confident? Optimistic, pessimistic, nervous, chill? Do you think we got this or is Mr. Money gonna actually pull it off?
How are you all feeling about this? I'm personally one big bundle of nerves, I've voted and there's really not much else I can do!

(10,193 posts)I'm pretty sure Obama is going to get the 270 electoral votes, but I'm not celebrating just yet.

(34 posts)I can't take the pressure and i'm not sure what I'm going to do if we don't win. Is this really a country I want to live in if that's the guy they want as President?
Am i alone in this? Sometimes I feel like I am.

(45,274 posts)I keep remembering that all those polls only asked the opinions of actual people.
It's the voting machines that need to be surveyed.

(16,872 posts)Have been extremely optimistic all week but am now fearing 2000-level disappointment
Local news said that the results would probably not be broadcast tonight. I will probably not be able to sleep if that is the case.

I'm just glad I live in New York. I won't have to hear about it everywhere I go if we lose.

If we can't expel Florida and Ohio from the USA, we should at least disallow their participation in national elections until they can hold honest and fair elections.

(1,372 posts)I'm happy I voted
There is a post about polls that says most polls agree that Obama will win with 342
For some reason I am encountering all these little glitches today that are pissing me off.
At the polls, the attendant put me in the booth and didn't turn on the machine
Mispricing at the store
Clerks that were not knowledgable
Simplified procedures at the Post Office that are really more complicated.
and finally...
hearing all this crap about the Ohio Sec of state still tampering with the voting machines
and no one is doing anything to get him locked up or put in a straight jacket.
Ohio has nme on edge
I read a book called Fire Breathing Liberal by FL Rep RobertWexler who states that Bush stole the election and still we went thru 8 years of his crap and now we are in this financial/job mess.
Nobody corrected the situation and it was all considered politically "legal"
We have a corrupt system and nobody is correcting it.
Very professional!
We vote people into office who are egocentric enough to run for office
and who get bought out by the wealthy who tell the elected officials what ot do and say.
Great system!
See? I'm happy I voted but every thing is so F%^&ed up
HEY! You asked!

(125 posts)Because I live in a republican enclave in an otherwise very blue state, I got to the polling place 11 minutes after it opened, nad the place was PACKED. Lines winding all around and out the door, a LOT of people with Romney/Ryan buttons in line. Seriously, I've never seen the place more packed during an election, and this place is way out in the countryside, not usually a busy place. It wasn't just people all there way to work -- there were old people, families, individuals...
I know logically that I live in an idiotville part of my state, but it still gave me pause to see how energized the repugs seem to be. I'm really looking for reassurance/confirmation that this thing is going our way!
We've got to win this.

(3,891 posts)Wary of a stolen election. Wary of the Tea Bagger's and their insurrectionist blather, that it might be more than blather. Wary of the millions of assault weapons that are on the street since President Obama took office. Wary of what the light of day may bring, because I just don't think the Rethugs are going to be satisfied with obstructionism in the second term. Wary of the Tea Baggers and their tendency to over-react and grow violent at the slightest perceived provocation.

(16,916 posts)I felt put off by what I believed to be unwarranted enthusiasm, and a weighted down with a general uneasiness.
The only reason I feel any nerves today is because the stakes are so high, other than that:
Obama leads in the early electoral count
Obama leads in the early vote turnout
Obama leads in the national polls
Obama leads in the battleground polls
Obama leads in all the prognostication methods
Obama has a 50+% job approval rating
Obama has a 50+% favorable rating
And ALL the recent movement in these numbers has been toward Obama
So yeah, I feel pretty fucking good

My son is a schizophrenic. Mental health system sucks.
My daughter is a teacher in Florida....need I say more.
My husband has had two heart attacks and no insurance....too expensive. He's 63.
My mother is very ill and is on Medicare.
Lots of issues for me in this election.

That's my only worry, though. If this really does turn out to have been a free and fair election (pause for laughter), I'll feel silly for have spent a minute fretting. But since the GOP is determined, and utterly without conscience, I am nervous.

And it would be even better if he won by a big margin, so the talking heads who said they are dead even, will be so wrong, especially the ones who get paid to skew the predictions.
