As racist and anti-semitic trolls continued to test the boundaries of Musks Twitter online, concern was growing that the mass layoffs could hobble the sites ability to police misinformation ahead of next weeks midterm elections as well as around other elections abroad.
Meanwhile, some workers who kept their jobs complained about the Musks changes and threatened to leave.
Musk acknowledged the chaos on Friday, tweeting that Twitter had experienced a massive drop in revenue because of activist pressure on advertisers. He repeated his claim that the site had made no changes in how it polices rule-breaking content.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
