(43,469 posts)White nationalist Tucker Carlson hits Tiffany Cross recently and accuses her of fueling a "race war"
She get deluged with hate and criticism.
Now?
She's out at MSNBC. Contract not renewed.
Timing is terrible. Protect Joy Reid, a unicorn, a Black female anchor on cable news. And @SymoneDSanders! My bad for not mentioning her. Glad she has her show.

Tucker Carlson's Fearmongering Features White Women In Bonkers Race-Bait
The Fox News host targeted MSNBC's Tiffany Cross to rile his right-wing audience.

Tucker Carlson twisted the observations of MSBNCs Tiffany Cross about the Jan. 6 insurrection on Wednesday, accusing her of demonizing white women in general. (Watch the video below.)
Cross, who is Black, noted on a recent MSNBC show that white women played a prominent part in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. She aired concerns about whether Americans realized that more white women were enablers to this very dangerous domestic terrorist movement.
At least 100 of the rioters arrested were women and they played a front-facing role, according to an NBC story in April that cited a George Washington University program on extremism report. The report mentioned womens role in the reemergence of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1960s. But modern social media has given women new opportunities to join right-wing extremism, the network wrote.
Crosss remarks seem consistent with the facts. But to Carlson, who repeatedly has peddled the great replacement conspiracy theory that whites are intentionally being replaced by immigrants and people of color, Cross comments were just fuel for fearmongering.

(842 posts)Unbelievable that they characterize her that way. She spoke truth to a fragile power structure that demands people bow down before them. An blatant attempt to appease the powerful and cow others into silence. Shameful.

against an entire one of our 50 states, and its entire population (including Democrats!). It's also on the eve of a critical, existential election. Florida is our nation's third largest in population, btw, with 27 congressional seats.
That's leaving aside the issue raised of whether she's the right stuff for a job that requires high levels of judgement and (hopefully) honesty. Imo, what she said wasn't just indecent but actually stupid in more than one way.
Did her race make her more vulnerable to consequences? Perhaps? Though I'm guessing her status as a minor anchor would have been a much bigger factor. There are many competing for her place. Regardless, there is no excuse for this behavior in anyone of any color. And shouldn't be.

(5,124 posts)I dont hear the same criticism for the other 3 people that appeared on the show you refer to. 3 males, one a white male, none of whom lost their jobs or received any backlash for the the states they chose to get rid of in a game on Comedy Central called Ones gotta go. I suppose they are guilty of hate speech as well. Ill wait for the backlash for Comedy Central for promoting hate speech for GA,FL and AZ.
I guess Desantis has achieved the ultimate MAGA status. Criticism of him, is criticism of FL. Just like trump declaring criticism of him, is criticizing America.
Maybe you saw something I did not. I dont hear hate speech against the people of FL. But Im reminded of the quote that says, only in America, can you call out racism and be called a racist for calling it

(58,785 posts)Btw, I was editing to shorten when you posted. I removed the word hatemongering, but not because I don't believe her wishing we could "castrate" an entire state and its people from the blessings and rights of being Americans qualifies. Really BAD, and interesting that she managed to dishonestly TWIST Floridians voting to make it legal for ex-felons to vote into a reason to want to "castrate" them all.
MAGA level behavior, Tulips. Social media sewer-level behavior. It's been spreading for a long time, but MSNBC drew the line at it in its anchors. Of course.
Let's hope it didn't cost us any votes. Not that I think the vast majority of people who claim excuses like this to not vote for Democrats intended to anyway. Still, some might have been angered enough to stay home Tuesday.

(5,124 posts)Thats the gist of what I got from your mentions of indecency, bad attitudes and attracting hate from RWers.
Your interpretation of what happened on that show are not facts.
Do not leave out the fact that she was responding to a question in a game called Ones Gotta Go. The previous question was about Halloween and Candy Corn.Shows how serious this discussion was. This was not anywhere near what you have implied.
Host: 4 races getting national attention
Rob Desantis in FL, Kari Lake in AZ, Herschel Walker in GA, Dr. Oz in PA
Which state can Democrats most afford to lose.?
Tiffanys answer FL, it looks like the dick of the country. For the uninitiated, that is an old as hell joke that the map of FL looks like a penis.
It was clear to me that her ire was directed at Ron Desantis, not the people of FL.
But this the usual RW bullshit. Manufactured outrage. No different from CRT makes white kids feel bad.
By that standard, the other guests and the host want to disenfranchise the people in the states they chose in this game. Really?
Its nonsense.

(58,785 posts)recurring bigotry against Floridians on social media that, like antisemitism and racial enmities, is unquelled by rationalism or decency. I've even seen people here, mindlessly carried away by anti-Florida groupthink no doubt, wish terrible things, like this, on the entire state. One I especially remember but won't name passionately -- and righteously! -- hoped that all the people in Florida would die.
That's what this is part of, and that's how bad it is.
Tuesday's election day. Maybe focus on that. Plenty of GOTVing and monitoring still to do. Always more hate to do battle against.

(5,124 posts)You have yet to point me to the section of tape where she says bigoted things about the people of FL.
Now youve veered off into comparing this to anti-semitism.
I am open to discussing facts. Not Strawman fallacies.

(16,966 posts)expand her journalistic horizons during the spotlight of a national election, but she took her chances in a more limited market. Blogs can be great to listen to, but most arent mainstream media.
