Is any one more effective? I'm going to get my third one this week.

(10,434 posts)I haven't seen any proof as to which might be better, or if it would be better to get a different 3rd.
No matter what, it's far better to get it than not.

(102,328 posts)Mixing them up (as I did for ONE of my prior boosters) may have a minimal advantage, but it is probably a wash at this point. Just do it (with influenza) and soon. Influenza is already spreading rapidly across the country and COVID will undoubtedly peak this winter again.

She said either way, change it up to get as little wider range of coverage.

(44,974 posts)Including bivalent booster. Moderna has higher mRNA concentration vs Pfizer.
I figured I could use more mRNA.

(13,101 posts)Ive had 5 Pfizers and only mild sore arms.
I did have a mild case of the covid a couple months back.
Im trusting the 'science' is good and it is doing good work and not prone to any future side effects.
although I hear right is pretty good also.

(34,136 posts)I sleep on my left side and it's just a bit sore as of last night. Got the third Pfizer booster on Thursday. It's what Walgreens had, so that's what I got. Flu shot was three weeks ago.
Get your vaccinations, whatever and whenever you can!

(7,284 posts)I have to say, vaccines and boosters, it's all been good, never a negative reaction. and knock on wood, haven't contracted covid.
got the annual flu shot the day before.
I'm feeling fine for what it's worth.

(23,648 posts)But my dr reccd the Moderna to widen the immune response
The pharm aide who gave me the Moderna said there was some truth to that strategy and had read about it also
So whatever you had before, get the other
or just get any !

(23,138 posts)The other times I got Moderna, so I thought why not switch up this time? My arm didn't hurt nearly as badly as it did with the last booster and no other side effects except a reduction in worry. I also got the flu shot at the same time, so doubly protected.

(2,106 posts)For all the shots. She said it is slightly more effective than the Pfizer shot. It just a percentage point or two different, but it might give you the edge. Either one is a good choice. I suspect the biological variations between each person would make up for those slight differences.
Would you rather I give you $95 or $96? Thats really how trivial the difference is.

(10,836 posts)Including our 3rd booster. Got the flu shot at the same time. We had mildly sore arms at the end of the first day, then . . . nothing.
Good luck!

(5,104 posts)Pfister is a 30 microgram dose (split 50/50 between old and new variants), where Moderna has 50 micrograms (also split 50/50).
The evidence seems to suggest a greater antibody response with the higher dose of Moderna.

(42,366 posts)Had the same reaction - 24 hrs of ugh. I've read that this one is very effective against current strains.

(14,628 posts)First J&J, then Moderna, and my last booster was Pfizer. I didnt have much of a reaction from any of them, just a sore arm. And Ive never had Covid, so who knows about the efficacy.
My advice: take whatever is available and if you have multiple choices, get whichever is most convenient for you. Good luck!
