General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDoes anyone believe that if tfg were to undergo a legitimate professional mental health
evaluation that he would not be diagnosed with serious problems that would disqualify him for service as:
A law enforcement officer?
A military technician overseeing and maintaining a nuclear missile silo?
A teacher or any other professional dealing with children?
Any position with any prudent company?
And, this "person" is threatening us with another presidential run?
Are we really going to dirty ourselves by insisting that those who vote for him or his cowardly ass-kissers deserve ANY respect? Any deference? Any benefit of the doubt? Any---dare I ask?---forgiveness?

(27,558 posts)If one were to interview them they would find they had lousy childhoods, disgruntled and unhappy lives. TFG makes them think they are the smartest brightest people, because they support him.
They are fools who are being conned and parted from their money.

(27,558 posts)And lousy childhoods! Even my husbands nieces and nephews from his older sisters only Ill fated marriage had an awful father who are avid TFG supporters still want Daddy to love them!
Before 2016 we could talk now they barely tolerate us liberals from SF and communication is stilted with them. They think we are loony liberals as their Dad used to call us.

(1,766 posts)That alone isn't enough to be insane. My mother, for instance, was by turns abusive, neglectful AND smothering and manipulative.
I turned out okay despite her, and with a normal-sized ego. I'll be the first to admit that I'm a hopeless moron about a bunch of stuff, and will cheerfully attribute it to sheer laziness on my part (takes too much effort to learn all I could about X or Y).
Maybe that's why I could never get swayed by a charlatan like that...thing. I can't relate to people who can't admit that they don't know everything. I can't relate to people who can't ever admit that they're wrong. I find it weird to be so fragile that you can't ever be...human.

(1,766 posts)He's a moron, a conniving manipulator, a pathological AND compulsive liar, a jerk and a scumbag, but none of that qualifies as insanity.
Because he's not the least insane. He knows what reality is, and he knows exactly what he's doing.
Don't give him the out for an insanity plea, because you know he'll go there, if he thinks he could get away with it.

(19,319 posts)Purportedly, Trump ratted out several high-ranking organized crime figures in NY/NJ in return for (future?) immunity from the feds. There were some articles about it on the web, but I can't find them any longer.

(32,606 posts)Trump has evidence of US collusion with his role as CI. Had to. How does Trump declare bankruptcy on Casino's without a DOJ review?
If we could ever get a real understanding of Donald Trump, his youth, his school years, his "Dad" relationship, his "Mom" relationship, his total interaction with the DOJ over his business lifetime, his modeling agency, his Russian financial pipeline, maybe it would make sense.
These rallies are a delusional last hurrah. Both Trump and his audience are trying to find relevance. After this, the show is over.

(23,069 posts)is a malignant narcissist, which is a manifestation of narcissitic personality disorder. Malignant narcissism isnt recognized in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders because it seems to be the combination of NPD, anti-social disorders, paranoia, sadism, and probably a slew of other goodies.
In other words, he's a mess.
So, he has several mental conditions, but the actual problem isn't him. The problem is his followers, and I doubt that a significant portion of them are mentally ill.
Instead, they are stupid, mean, evil, and gullible.
They use tfg as an excuse for their behavior.
So, fuck 'em. Fuck 'em sideways and upside down.
No respect.
No deference.
No forgiveness.
They ain't sick, they're just mean and dumb as dirt.

(1,200 posts)Some have been dealing their whole lives with undiagnosed traumas.
Some are dumb. Which means the system failed them.
Some are racist. Ditto.
Some are susceptible to cults, or even worse, social media.
Forgiveness should be afforded to all.
Though
sometimes a fascist is just a fascist, too.

(1,766 posts)He definitely has NPD, and the elements of criminality and lack of empathy of Anti-Social Personality disorder:
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/9657-antisocial-personality-disorder
His over the top freakouts about, well, everything, also point to Histrionic Personality Disorder:
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/9743-histrionic-personality-disorder
His self-pitying/self-destructive impulses point to Borderline Personality Disorder:
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/9762-borderline-personality-disorder-bpd
When you go through each of them, you find yourself ticking off multiple symptoms--yep, yep, yep...aaaaanddd...YEP.
So he hits all the Cluster-B disorders, without breaking a sweat.
BlueKota
(5,553 posts)have said they strongly suspect he has Narcissistic Personality Disorder even though normally they are reluctant to diagnose someone they have not treated themselves.
It's just too obvious for them, or anyone with common sense to see. If he were to seek treatment which he won't, it most likely wouldn't help, because you can't convince a narcissist that there is anything wrong with them.
Also they can never admit they're wrong about anything, which is a dangerous flaw in a leader. I keep praying that we will be sparred from him ever being in the White House again. The scary thing is, however, even, if he is put on trial, or were to choose not to run again, the Republicans will just find another deranged jerk to run like DeSantis, and idiots will vote for them.

(13,386 posts)Sociopaths are too dangerous to be trusted.
Give them kindness, benefit of a doubt they'll hurt you.
Sociopathy should disqualify anyone from running for any public office or position of power over other people or animals period.
Including psychiatry.
Sociopaths need to be kept out of mental hospitals because everyone's safety, quality of care and even the ability to have group therapy is ruined by them.
Any felony record or history of spouse/ child abuse should be an automatic disqualification too. ( Except pot felonies)
