In my younger days I was a stay up all night person. Now I stay up fairly late, but actually get many final results the next morning. I'm on the west coast, so don't have to stay up too late to get some east coast results.
This year is going to be unique. Months ago my wife mad a very important medical appointment for Wednasday, and it really can't be delayed. We weren't even thinking about it being the morning after the election. It's not about anything life threatening, but it's important. The catch is it is 150 miles from where we live. So it requires me getting up at about 5:00 am. And it's going to be raining. We do have SeriusXM radio in the car, so we can listen to MSNBC on the radio.
So that's how we will get the results. AT 75 mph heading south toward Sacramento on hwy 5. Should be interesting. Never done it this way before. At least with having to do that drive, I won't drink the night before so I won't have that day after election hangover. There will be donuts.

(4,390 posts)From Wikipedia... "Truman, aided by the Secret Service, snuck away from reporters covering him in Kansas City and rode to nearby Excelsior Springs, Missouri. There, he took a room in the historic Elms Hotel, had dinner and a Turkish bath, and went to sleep.... At 4 a.m., Truman awoke again and heard on the radio that his popular-vote lead was now nearly two million votes, and that he was well ahead in the electoral vote He told the Secret Service agents guarding him to drive him back to Kansas City, 'because it looks as if we're in for another four years.' (115,615 posts)especially if the GOPers challenge everything, which they will. I do know that I won't be watching Steve Kornacki because he drives me nuts - reminds me of one of those tube-shaped things with waving arms you see in front of used car lots.

(24,253 posts)I can't wait to watch the republican losers flailing in the coming weeks. It amuses me. It was the best part of the 2020 election cycle.

That said, I'm not sure I can watch any other network's coverage either.

(9,041 posts)Today and tomorrow will be our worst storm days, but the bigger issue is that Californians forget how to drive in weather until the first storm or two of the season has broken them in again.
I live just off 80 between SF and Sacramento and was asked if I'd do some kiddo shuffling back and forth between Vallejo and Travis AFB tomorrow afternoon. Yeah, no. I'm not driving through that mess during the first major rain in the middle of rush hour. Fortunately, their plans changed.
I swear there's an accident between Fairfield and Vacaville like every other day.

(24,253 posts)I'm coming from Lake County and forecasts for wednesday morning say I will be in the clear until I hist Sacramento then moderate rain all the way to Auburn. I have a pretty new car with good tires and good windshield wipers, so we should be confy and safe.
I drive up that way fairly often as we are planning to move to Grass Valley sometime in the spring. My grandson lives there and we are moving into a manufactured home on his property.

(3,245 posts)figure by that time, PA gov will be called but Senate won't. I'm not worried at all about my Rep. (Madeline Dean) not being re-elected.
Ans as usual (and so seems current sentiment for some like me) I'll watch MSNBC until Kornacki comes on, then switch to CNN.

This means that I can easily ignore Kornacki and the coverage.
