Has his purchase of Twitter had a negative impact on Tesla stock prices? Absolutely. But its not the only factor in the stock's decline.

And as is always the case in comparing stocks, when you bought makes a difference. If you bought Ford on January 3, 2020, you paid $9.21/share and today its at around $13.70, a decent but hardly spectacular gain. If you bought Tesla on January 3, 2020, you paid $29.53 and today its hovering just below $200/share -- a pretty nice return still.

Elon certainly has to sell something to pay off the old Twitter stock holders...may as well be some of his Tesla Stock.
