post links to twitter, could they instead just post a screen shot of it so we don't have to click on twitter? TIA

If it's any comfort to you, TSLA share prices are dropping on speculation that Mush has so impaired his value that he'll have to either cannibalise TSLA, or sell TWTR. He is bleeding out financially.
He's a mess, but the utility of twitter for my purposes is not yet impaired. I use it mainly for trading and see little to no change.

(13,730 posts)This is a link to a Twitter post.
On edit:
Your comment about it happening automatically has got me wondering ...
Do you mean that people can see the Twitter post within your DU post after you post the link? That's not a screen capture you're seeing, that's the actual Twitter post and drives Twitter traffic just the same as if you had viewed it in another window or tab. The DU software just makes it more convenient for the reader (they don't have to click on the link).
The OP is suggesting converting the Twitter post to an image, similar to what you'd get from a digital camera, and posting that instead. Assuming the image is hosted on Imgur, Postimage, or somesuch, Twitter would get no traffic when people view it.

(13,730 posts)I reread the OP, their concern does not seem to be giving Twitter the traffic, it's that they are unable to see the Twitter post embedded in the DU post, they have to click on the link. I have that problem a lot, too.
My mistake.
The rest, the part about the the distinction between screen captures and embedded links, is accurate and posting an actual screen capture of the tweet would solve the OP's problem. It would take a fair bit of effort on the poster's part to do all that manually, though.

(6,907 posts)I really don't want to have to click on to twitter because I don't want to give them traffic, but also it is a pain.

(6,907 posts)I am not logged into a twitter.
I don't think it works the way you think it does, at least for me. I'm guessing it is because I don't have a twitter.
This is my screen shot:
