(57,741 posts)I might watch for her, but I'll also switch to CNN.
Steve is an annoyance but I need to hear return coverage with Rachel, Nicole and crew.

(10,306 posts)Since he will be forced to analyze actual voting data rather than simply pontificating on unreliable polling results.

(32,096 posts)We have little choice but to watch him tomorrow, I certainly am not watching him tonight.

(5,058 posts)He really knows his stuff about which county to look out for. He is really good when he is just dealing with pure numbers without any of the political commentating.

(23,002 posts)I can't believe how much he knows about so many different areas of the country.

(2,211 posts)He's a little too excitable sometimes, but his analysis of incoming votes (their team's analysis, anyhow) is second to none in my opinion.
And I don't find that he "gets excited about R's doing well"; seems to love data and especially unpredicted results, either way.

Oh right, you all think CNN is Fox News now.

(4,411 posts)Its not just him. All the projecting of what if this county goes blue and what if this race goes red reminds me of something my father used to say about speculation. And if my grandmother had wheels, shed be a trolley car.
Im going to try to avoid anxiety tonight. Gonna watch an old movie.

(35,819 posts)I like Rachael and Nicole a lot, but theres just going to be WAY too much drama. Ive done what I could- volunteered, gave and voted, so Im good with that.

(31,870 posts)and especially of Kornacki.
not only that but I am really tired of the "we are giving up, X" emails I have been getting from various candidates and Democratic re-election efforts. These types of fear mongering emails do not motivate me to give them money... I have donated as much as I could to the races where I thought it would do the most good.
now I am checked out of election bullshit until about a week after the elections... hopefully all the races will have been decided by then.
if we lose the House or the Senate or both... or various Governors around the country... I will weep a little and hope that our votes will be counted on 2024.

(41,318 posts)Just grin and bear it, this stuff won't last that long. The DU Lounge usually has nice kitty and doggy gifs, maybe watch those for a day or two. The Steve Kornacki segments will be over quickly and we'll get back to regular news after that.

I am purposely avoiding any tv as I have for the past two years.
At some point I'll take a quick glance at DU's Latest Breaking News, or quick glance at GD... to get a sense of how things seem to be rolling out, but mostly I'll check in tomorrow.
I'll rejoice and celebrate good news tomorrow, or I'll be too damned depressed to engage.
Whichever way I'm not giving it to the MSM.

(2,796 posts)Waving his hands over his maps are quite annoying, though 80% of talking heads over gesticulate, including some of my favorites such as nancy pelosi - 70%, rachel maddow - 70%, bernie sanders - 90%, biden - 40%. Kornacki has about 5 motions which he repeats over and over. I have formed 'STOGATH' - Stop over gesticulation amongst talking heads.
Kornacki uses the term 'dead heat' regarding polls. A poll can NEVER be considered a dead heat towards the electorate, it is oxymoronic. A dead heat is 'no discernible difference'. While a poll with a sample of 2002 splitting 1001 to 1001 is indeed a dead heat it cannot be applied to the electorate in general because of the margin of error which simply creates a swath wherein the results could lie, and it is ridiculous to arbitrarily choose the exact dead center. I have seen him refer to a percentage point poll result which is say, 44 - 42, as a dead heat. Again ridiculous as a true dead heat had 'no discernible difference' and a 2 pt lead is certainly discernible.
Kornacki I think is polish, a polack like me, and his name is properly pronounce in polish 'Kor nat skee'.
Nicole Wallace employs 'fake breaking news' so frequently I stopped watching her show. She puts up about anything and calls it breaking news; about 70% of her show not counting commercials and true breaking news, is fake breaking news. I remember once she had during early pandemic 'Gymnasts go maskless in Miami', then a video of about 50 in a gym, most without masks. No more breaking news than a parking lot fender bender.
