The machines had an option to review your selections and then print them on the ballot that you are given to insert into the machine. Once they are printed, the ballot is available to view through a window. If you are satisfied with your selections, you then choose the "vote" option. The printed ballot is then retained by the machine. This is the first time in my 47 years of voting that I've seen this type of an electronic machine that includes a printed version of the ballot that you can actually see before you cast your vote. I didn't get the name brand of the voting booth machine, but this seems like a fail-safe feature that would help in the event of any MAGA challenges that arise.
Maybe it's just me, but I was impressed.

(18,235 posts)Here you pick a totally blank ballot, vote the ballot, make sure you voted the way you wanted, hit submit and it prints your ballot. However, the voter gets to have possession of the ballot.
Then you can review it once more before feeding it through the vote tabulator. Wait for the US flag to wave at you and proceed to leave.

(176,867 posts)In Texas we have machines with paper ballot for a paper trail. We have to take the printed ballot and put the printed ballots into a scanner. If a voter does not do this, the ballot is counted as a fleeing ballot and does not count

(34,755 posts)We've had them since 2018. Unfortunately, they are not well-maintained, so the touch screens are crap. One has to be really careful that one register the rights candidates. Fortunately, there is a review screen in case you don't catch any misvotes at the start.

As long as there is some residual paper back up for hand recounts, I have no major problem with electronic machines.
(Although my ballots have been optical scan for over a decade.)
