(1,495 posts)my daughter moved to Pennsylvania 2 weeks ago. She and her husband couldn't vote in Pennsylvania either because they are living in a hotel right now until they find a house to buy. So they don't have a permanent address yet.
I called the local election board to see if anything could be done about the military ballot, and they said he'd have to go in person and vote by affidavit, which I don't consider safe because there are high rates of Covid in my county and most people will probably be unmasked.
I lost my father to Covid 3 weeks ago today and I can't risk losing another family member to this horrifying and deadly virus.
At least me and my younger son were able to mail our ballots last week without incident.

(1,495 posts)He was only in his early 70s, healthy and had all his vaccines. Covid is such a horrifying death.
I'm nervous about the election tonight. I can't believe my son was sent the wrong ballot.

(1,495 posts)least your daughter wore a mask. Most people in my area who are obviously sick won't even put on a mask. It's disgusting not to wear a mask in public during a pandemic. Obviously, none of these people have ever watched a loved one die a horrible suffering death from Covid as I have.

(1,495 posts)A family member didn't test positive until the 5th day after symptoms started. He took a Covid test every day for 4 days and all were negative. On the 5th day, it was positive.
Just in the last few days, I told several friends about this and they both thought they had colds and both turned out to have Covid. One had just tested once, but tested again on my recommendation because she lives with her elderly mother. It was Covid.
The other had already tested 3x, but sent me a sad message that the 4th test was "the charm."
Not trying to be a downer, but it is critically important to take multiple tests for at least 5 days after symptoms start so early interventions, such as Paxlovid or monoclonal antibodies, can be given in time to prevent more serious illness.
Also, multiple tests are needed anyway because rapid tests have a lot of false negatives.
