(5,559 posts)unless you are a young woman, Dobbs is very unlikely to impact you directly.
Between crime and inflation, this year it is very easy for voters to turn inward and forget about the rights that have been taken from the women around them.
The average voter is selfish, stupid, and short sighted.

Sorry, but my generation fought hard for the right to choose and I am very disappointed. There shouldnt be a Republican candidate winning a single race tonight.

It strikes me that perhaps many don't
think it really matters for them to vote,
thatthey don't have skin in the game.

(4,392 posts)However, in the end two things matter. First, Democrats do better when they talk about the economy. Simple messages that tar and feather the oligarchs and say in broad terms how we're going to help average people. If we don't, we lose. Second, we need a damn rock star. we've got some on the bench, and that bench was joined this evening by Wes Moore and Josh Shapiro. I would have put Fetterman on that list pre-stroke, but such is life.
But in the end, all of our hopes lie on a charismatic, well-spoken, likable and fresh person at the helm in '24 or '28. The electorate is inclined to vote for democrats, but the focus on Trump, democratic governance, and abortion rights doesn't win elections, as vital as they all are.
