First Reagan, dismantling the Fairness Doctrine, union busting, then the Bork and Thomas nominations, stoking the Federalist Society, dismantling mental health institutions, the dirty campaign tactics of Lee Atwater, the loosening rules of media ownership, the 2000 election and subsequent effect on the Supreme Court, then Citizens United and tearing up the Voting Rights Act, then coddling the Tea Party to get gun votes.....what did they expect would happen?
Honestly, "Frankenstein" should be required reading.

(15,224 posts)You have nailed it!!!
The idea that none of them have stood up to Trump (i.e., Ted Cruz kissing Trumps ass after Trump criticized his family, Pence not standing up when Trump almost had him killed) should also be part of the equation. Republicans dont stand FOR anything. They just go along with the bullies getting the attention and dont fight back.

(13,776 posts)... I would pick rejection. It would hurt him so much more.
If this election turns into his name becoming a taunt or a synonym for failure within the GOP as it already has throughout the word, that is better to me than any prison sentence.
I mean, I'd still bust open a bottle of champagne when/if he goes to jail. But I just love the idea of his becoming utterly irrelevant.

(37,162 posts)...that you have a "Trump problem"?
This has been inevitable since bomb-throwing Newt was made Speaker of the House and blowhard Rush was made National Ward Captain.
Since you turned your party over to people who had no interest in compromise and comity, who were all for "extremism ... is no vice" but have a blinkered view of what constitutes liberty.
