My deep Texas roots and what Beto's loss means to me now

Later on tonight I am calling my MA born first granddaughter, now living in Austin. Her job led her to Austin and she worked on Beto's campaign as a volunteer. Her father is a Democratic political strategist in Boston and so she is no stranger to politics.

I am a third generation Texan and though I was born and raised in Dallas, I had strong Dems in my family in Austin. My uncle was a state senator and my cousins worked in Austin, reporting and writing for local newspapers in the days before TV (yeah, I'm that old and sadly they are all deceased).

So my Boston born granddaughter takes me full circle, back to those roots. Politics will probably break her heart, if it hasn't already made a crack.

So sail on, silver girl. There will be good days tomorrow, I am sure.

Who lost children in the school shooting. The residents of Uvalde County voted two out of three for Abbott. This makes me angry. It scares me because we have so many idiots who are in church on Sunday morning and yet still don’t care that these children were murdered AND that there is an obvious cover up.

Republicans are assholes, and that is never going to change.

It scares me because we have so many idiots who are in church on Sunday morning and yet still don’t care that these children were murdered AND that there is an obvious cover up.

When abortion clinics were bombed and doctors murdered, plenty of church people were committing the bombings and murders, cheering it on or even abetting mass-murderers like Eric Rudolph by giving them hiding places.

When school shootings have happened all over the country, they've sat on their enormous, gelatinous rear ends in pews and done nothing but talked to air.

When black people have been openly murdered by police, those same church people have cheered it on.

When black people were lynched--even young, innocent boys like Emmett Till, these same church people were doing the lynching or cheering it on.

When are people going to face that this is how way too many church people are--and always have been?

I grew up in Uvalde and it is status quo as usual, including the very obvious cover up. The only reason the families have the few answers that they do is because the media is still down there - mostly Shimon Prokupecz from CNN. He has been on this unceasingly.

I said it made me angry and it scares me.

2. I think Beto should form an alliance with Stacey Abrahms

Have them work on GOTV and promote Democrats. They are both too nice for the ugly fights they needed to win.

Beto should have gotten in the face of that crackpot machine gun toting "preacher", but he is way too nice.

Abrahms is extremely articulate and I fear racists will vote nay for being way smarter than they are.

I don’t think he can run for office again effectively, but I definitely think he has talents that can be utilized to get voters, especially younger voters, interested and involved.

I think Dems need to put their $$ and attention elsewhere.

Too gerrymandered and too fucked up.

We need to put resources elsewhere

Too many right-leaning votes moving to FLA and TX in the last few years while parts of OH more and more resemble Alabama. Dems should concentrate on NC, Nevada and AZ moving forward.

Gerrymandering should be illegal the way the republicons abuse the system. I still live in Texas (5th generation) and it is disappointing that we are stuck in this gerrymandering hellhole.

The fight will continue!

Sixth generation Texan here. If it was a fair playing field, our side would win every time.

Republicans cheat and Republicans suck.

I can think of two outstanding people who are free to make a big mark on the party. And I bet you know their names. And there are more.

My first encounter with national politics was when JFK ran for president. (I was just a kid). I saw the energy that he and his colleagues not only put into the campaign, but also gave to the country, and which led to great things.

Joe Biden can accomplish great things. I wished that he had more backing, but who knows what “legislators” (I use the term loosely) will be indicted for their seditious conspiracy?

There is ONE law that needs to be abolished. The one that says that every law has TWO meanings: one for the privileged and one for everyone else. And that is a choice, not a ballot measure.

Vinceremos.
