Donald did not have authority to do it without evidence. FBI and DOJ are rather particular about that part as they do not like to get pranged for acting outside their jurisdiction. There would have been an official complaint, a signed warrant to act, and evidence on file which would exist today in federal hands.

It should be obvious to anyone at all by now that he's lying. Why? Because he always does in front of his "special" audience. Donny hasn't got clue one about how the FBI and DOJ operate. That's what he had Bill Barr for.

In addition there would have been HUGE headlines about this along with lawsuits. Where are they?

Hello, I've been lurking here for over a decade but this story made me register to comment. This feels like it could become a much bigger deal. I remember in 2018 saying the results and the numbers didn't make sense. The polls in the gubernatorial election and the Senate election were considered close but most polls favored both Andrew Gillum and Bill Nelson. Sure it was close enough for DeSantis and Rick Scott to win their respective elections but to me what made it feel so wrong was the overwhelming passage of Florida Amendment 4, the Voting Rights Restoration for Felons Initiative. At the time, it feel absolutely insane to me that Amendment 4 would pass so convincingly and yet DeSantis and Scott would win. The Amendment gained 5.1 million Yes votes compared to 2.8 million No votes. In no universe did it make sense to me that a state that just voted to restore voting rights to felons would then also vote for DeSantis and Scott. That felt totally incongruous to me at the time and now after seeing what nearly amounts to a confession of election tampering, it would make perfect sense. Trump most likely rigged those elections but was sloppy enough to forget about the Amendment vote.
