Real Time with Bill Maher continues its 20th season Friday, November 11 (10:00-11:00 p.m. live ET/tape-delayed PT), with a replay at 12:00 a.m., exclusively on HBO.
This week features a one-on-one interview with Jared Polis, Democratic Governor of Colorado since January 2019, who just won reelection to a second term.
This week's in-studio panel discussion will include Robert Costa, chief election and campaign correspondent for CBS News and co-author of Peril; and Ro Khanna, Democratic congressman representing California's 17th district since 2017 and author of Dignity in a Digital Age: Making Tech Work For All Of Us.

(24,203 posts)I'm 100% positive he had a 10 minute monologue prepared to blame it all on the woke left, wokeism, and cancel culture.
Bill is slowly turning into Bill O'Reilly, he really is pathetic.

(26,664 posts)to see what Bill has to say about the outcome of the election. He ended the show last week with a lengthy eulogy to democracy, anticipating that the red wave was coming.
Perhaps he was attempting to motivate Dem voters to go to the polls, but he was definitely off the mark.

A WSJ columnist, not a very rabid, wrote this:
(I said Id eat crow if there was no red wave. The bird is basting.)
Thanks, again, for your tireless posting

(32,354 posts)I'm sure as hell not watching that sonovabitch, not after all the shit he's spewed about Democrats.

(1,594 posts)He can never go an episode without the woke crap. This one was no different. 10 years ago it was Islam, Islam, Islam. Now it's woke/cancel culture/trans/fat people getting sick from Covid. Sounds like he's a desantis fan too. He wrote the guy a valentine.
He's gone downhill over the past 5-8 years. Covid seems to've really broken him. Masking, things being closed down. I don't think he'll ever get over that.
There was some good stuff on the show. I'm always appreciateve of Ri and others posting these threads. But it is very rare for me to watch a whole epi without tons of eye rolls. There's an outstanding episode every once and a blue moon. But it's so rare. He always has to get the woke stuff in there (and/or cancel culture and or the left making everything about race/gender/sexuality). It's not that "overwokeness" is never a problem or never goes too far. But to hit on it every week when the other side has SO MANY CRAZY THINGS they say/do/stand for -- it's just nuts to me. I miss the Maher from the Bush years.

(255,525 posts)But of course they were all "well behaved." Maybe he needs a lineup that includes the likes of Rob Reiner and Max Brooks - who are familiar and outspoken enough that they're not afraid to argue with him or call him out - in a good humored way, of course.

(2,499 posts)The final segment on Who is doing Trump? was something I would normally despise, but Maher made it funny. He goes places most people wont. Theres just something about Maher that makes me laugh. And I cant help but like anyone who makes me laugh.

(255,525 posts)And the thing that many people forget is that Bill is a comedian. Yes, he has political guests and discusses current events, but he makes his living making people laugh.
