(1,992 posts)This was the first time I ever heard the term teabagging...and laughed my ass off every time I heard them call themselves that.

(1,789 posts)if America is all wilderness, there would be no cities for anyone to dwell in, liberals or otherwise. Does "no liberals in sight" mean we are all killed, or do we just need to hide behind trees?
This is the crux of the problem with MAGA/fundamentalists. It is not enough that nobody except greedy land developers is trying to take away their wilderness, cowboys et al. In their minds, other viewpoints and lifestyles are not allowed to exist. How could one possibly find common ground with that?

(5,058 posts)you will suddenly become a right winger if you don't live in cities, and you turn into a liberal if you live in a city.

(114,616 posts)whether they're religious or cults of personality or (horror of horrors) food fad cults, is that they require perfect consensus. The more goofball the belief system, the more rigid this requirement is, so much so that they tend to collect into tight, insular groups and try to find some place out in the back and beyond where the theory is that they will never have to contact outsiders for anything.
The two things that will kill them all off are doubt and questioning. They know that and forcibly eject anyone who indulges either.

One of my top 5 films. I own a copy. Gorgeous, including the scenery and music. If you haven't watched Brokeback Mountain, take a quiet evening and turn off your phone and let director Ang Lee do his magic on you and break your heart.

(8,622 posts)than old pickup trucks, or ANYTHING not made by hand on the ranch, or Beer and Bread....
The wild American West lasted from the end of the Civil War to just prior to the turn of the century. Some of it lingered on until the Great War. NONE of it was as graceful nor as livable as American Cinema portrays it to be.
It was HARD damn work on the ranch, or the farm, or out on the range, with no theme music playing in the background and definitely no cell service.
